*AMC knows how to pick dramas – having enjoyed both critical acclaim and ratings success with their original series “Mad Men,” “Breaking Bad” and most recently “The Walking Dead.”
The network hopes to continue the streak with its new project “Low Winter Sun,” a drama pilot that stars Lennie James and Mark Strong as detectives in Detroit, reports Deadline.com.
Based on the 2006 British miniseries, “Low Winter Sun” is described as a contemporary story of murder, deception, revenge and corruption that starts with the murder of a cop by fellow Detroit detective Frank Agnew (Strong). Seemingly the perfect crime, in reality the murder activates forces that will forever alter that detective’s life and pull him into the heart of the Detroit underworld.
James, who co-starred in the ABC pilot “Gotham” last season, will play Joe, who is described as part cop, part perp.
Ernest Dickerson (“The Walking Dead”) is in talks to direct the pilot, from Endemol Studios and AMC Studios.
