D. L. Hughley Says President Obama Needs to Grow Some You Know What

d l hughley book cover*D.L. Hughley got really real on President Obama recently when he addressed the leader’s top bullies.

The talk show host explains in his new book, “I Want You to Shut the F#ck Up: How the Audacity of Dopes is Ruining America,” how the president has really impacted the country as the first African American president.

“I think he was surprised that the right wing would actually let this country fall apart just to get the black guy out of office,” he said during an interview with the Daily Beast. “I don’t think he realized how we as a country have not gotten that far race-wise. White people are cool with black people at work, living in the neighborhood and having a few as friends. But let someone black marry their daughter or let a black man run the free world and you see the real feelings. I think Obama thought everyone would come together for the good of the country. He believed that people are basically patriotic. They are until there’s a black head of state.”

The comedian explained that Obama hasn’t done his due diligence with handling right winged critics and politicians.

“The day Rep. Joe Wilson yelled out ‘you lie’ while President Obama was speaking to congress defined his presidency as far as I’m concerned,” Hughley said. “Obama not addressing that situation gave a pass to people to keep disrespecting him. Had he just said, “You don’t have to respect me but you will respect this office,” and then said, “Guards, remove him,” a lot of things would be different now. Incidents like that show you he wasn’t raised by a black father because a black father would have taught him that you can’t let someone disrespect you but one time. You let someone take your lunch from you that one time without doing anything and they’ll be eating your lunch the rest of your life. That incident made it clear to me that he was raised by his grandparents from Kansas.”

  1. I’m not a big fan of DL but I do agree in some ways. O think the President oftens scolds the Black community more and tell them to put up or shut up rather than going bold with those rednecks who ridicule him on a daily basis.

I behind D L 100% and I don’t care about Obama being black and I’m one of them that is considering whether or not I want to vote for Obama again and yes I am black and hell to the naw I am not voting for Romney. In these last 4 years I wanted to see himi grow some balls too and and the you lie comment did get the ball rolling on him being disrespected and he didn’t do nothin about the so called party crashers. I beginning to think he helped that couple out for the housewives reality show cuz how come he didn’t press charges and firing Desiree or her stepping down does not count. I am NOT FIRED UP and ready to go now like I was in 08. Obama needs to command his respect and STOP apologizing for people who come to his defense when he should be coming to his own. Hell maybe he can borrow some of Michelle’s balls.

Well Dang!!! princefan ” borrow some of Michelle’s balls” WOW!! lol!!!! al joking aside I agree with you 100% I am behind Pres Obama in his bid for re-election but I want him ot be more forceful and like you said demand respect and stop trying to play nice with the repubs, tea partyers and anyone else who does not like him. OBAMA 2012!!!

  3. Michelle Balls…..I luv it….heck she gets more respect than him.

  4. I agree 1000% with everything D.L. stated. I’ve been somewhat disillusioned with the POTUS as the novelty of the first black president grew old rather quickly for me. However, I’m still riding with him in the upcoming election. But, I HOPE like Hades that he grows some cajones, borrows Michelle’s, Kim Jong-il’s, or whomever else has given a big ‘F’ you to the U.S and brings about the ‘CHANGE’ he campaigned on in 2008.

glad I made you laugh babycake and diva007 you are right Michelle real does. She’s had her disrespect moments too, but not like her husband and about my decision on voting for the president or not, right now I am at a crossroad. Commanding his respect is just one of the things I want to see I don’t want see 4 more years of the same thing.

  6. ITA with all the comments. None of the President’s behavior surprises me. I figured this out when all that controversy erupted around Rev. Wright. Not surprised when he constantly chastises black folks while accepting all kinds of derisive and racist comments from whites. Don’t like D.L Hughly at all but it’s obvious that the President’s upbringing plays a role in how he treats blacks and whites.

  7. I pray he does not become the MOST “tragic mulatto”.

  8. We need to realize he can’t be everything to us as a people; he is here to govern for all people not just black folks. He has to walk a very fine line and play their game as this is their silly little playground and they defined the rules of the games. I honestly believe next term he is bound to stand his ground more as he won’t have as much to lose. I long to see him cut up at a press conference and tell some of these nutcases to STFU or have Secret Service show them the door. Nonetheless we have to remain engaged and get out and vote in droves once again this fall. Otherwise the other side will take us back to a time where if you think you might be hurting now just you wait until they start running things again.
