One kid in a dorm somewhere at Fordham University is attempting to capitalize on the next big thing: Gabby Douglas.
A.J. Rotonde filed a trademark for “Flying Squirrel” for $325 on Aug. 6. He said he decided to make his move while she was competing in the Olympics.
Now if the 16-year-old gymnast wants to make some money from that, she’ll have to fork over a little something-something to this random college kid, that is, if his application is approved – which can take several months.
It’s going to be hard though, because he’s planning to use the phrase on T-shirts and other merchandise.
Gabby’s folks have yet to respond to the whole bit.
