*Two months after pleading guilty to tax evasion … not paying taxes for the years 2005-2007 … singer Lauryn Hill’s very interesting mug shot has been released.
It could go down as one of the more intense celebrity mugshots ever.
She is free on $150,000 bond, but faces up to 3 years in prison and could be hit with $75,000 in fines when she is sentenced on November 27.
Hill responded to the charges in a post on her Tumblr page, saying she hadn’t paid taxes since she withdrew from society in an effort to guarantee the safety of herself and her family.
The Grammy award winning singer went on to describe how she rejected pop culture’s “climate of hostility, false entitlement, manipulation, racial prejudice, sexism and ageism.”
Over-commercialization and its resulting restrictions and limitations can be very damaging and distorting to the inherent nature of the individual.
I did not deliberately abandon my fans, nor did I deliberately abandon any responsibilities, but I did however put my safety, health and freedom and the freedom, safety and health of my family first over all other material concerns!
I also embraced my right to resist a system intentionally opposing my right to whole and integral survival.

Seems she has aged a lot… I don’t undestand her reasoning behind not paying her taxes???
I don’t understand Lauren’s logic either for not paying her taxes. Did she really think her excuse would hold up in court? What makes these people feel they are above paying their taxes? Tax evasion is something serious and Lauren will find that out sooner rather than later.
I understand her reasoning, however it ain’t gonna fly with the courts.
I feel so sorry for her….not about her tax issues but I honestly believe she suffered numerous breakdowns and failed to get her mental issues diagnosed and treated. It just goes to show, no matter how much talent, fame and fortune, mental illness plagues us more than we care to realize. She was gorgeous, talented and had the whole world captivated with her music and gave it all up for what?? I remember reading an interview with her in Vibe magazine and she was saying how she thought Wyclef and her were an item and he was going to leave his wife and I guess before one of their performances, he like dumped her and went into the ladies room and had a complete meltdown and could barely perform the show. She said she loves hard which has always been her downfall with men…they used to have the bomb ass articles in Vibe.

she’s suffering from mental problems, Lord knows, I live with a spouse that wears aluminum foil in his hats or badanas. Marley needs to leave that negro-hating-white-girl-alone, and the other baby-daddy need step up, their kids are in serious trouble.
Hopefully she gets locked up and as a lesson for anyone that thinks like she does and don’t pay taxes. Those Rastafarians ruined her and went back to their country. I wish her the best.
