NFL Drafts Mariah Carey for Kickoff, Cee Lo for ‘Thursday’

*Mariah Carey and No Doubt have been announced as performers for the hour-long NFL pre-game show ahead of the season’s first game on Sept. 5, while Cee Lo Green will handle the intro to NFL Network’s “Thursday Night Football” this year.

Before the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys kick off at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, Carey and the reunited pop band No Doubt will take the stage during a special airing at 7:30 p.m. on NBC.

Carey, 42, said she’s thrilled to be performing in her hometown and wants to make the new season’s launch “even more festive.”

Cee Lo, meanwhile, has written a song called “I Love Football” to the tune of the Ramones’ “Blitzkrieg Bop” that will open the NFL Network’s Thursday night games. Coverage starts at 8 p.m.
