Serena & Venus Williams Tennis Academy To Host Second Annual West Coast African-American Tennis Hall of Fame Reception and Family Tennis Festival
*The Venus and Serena Williams Tennis Academy will host the second annual West Coast African-American Tennis Hall of Fame Reception and Family Tennis Festival on Saturday, August 11.
Family Tennis Festival
Beginning at 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 11, there will be a free family-friendly tennis festival featuring games, clinics, and a showcase of junior tennis players from the Academy. The festival will take place at the Rancho Cienega Sports Complex’s Arthur Ashe Tennis Center located at 5001 South Rodeo Boulevard in Los Angeles.
2012 Annual West Coast African-American Tennis Hall of Fame Reception
Later Saturday, August 11, members of the Greater Los Angeles tennis community will gather to honor the 2012 West African-American Tennis Hall of Fame inductees. By excellence of their activities in and connection with tennis in Los Angeles, this year’s honorees have brought substantial recognition and esteem to themselves and to L.A.’s African-American tennis community.
The 2012 Hall of Fame inductees are: Calvin Bennett, Don Bly, Pete Brown, Ted Brown, Tommy Lee Childress, Cyrus Joyner, Pierre Lenoir, Melvin “BoBo” Lewis, Jean Richardson, Frank “No. 1” Simmons, Coach Larry Smith, Richard Williams. Other honorees include: LaRhonda Amos, Henry Brandon, Terry Chambers, Troy Collins, Bryan Gardner, Jamal Hicks, Vincent Mackey, LeGeorge Mauldin, Robert Robinson, and George Marty Woods.
The reception will take place 3956 Kenway Avenue in Los Angeles from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tickets are $40 and preferred attire is business casual or cocktail attire.

For over 20 years, the Venus and Serena Williams Tennis Academy has provided tennis instruction to junior and adult players in Southern California. The Academy operates year-round, 7 days a week at the Arthur Ashe Tennis Center of Los Angeles located at 5001 Rodeo Boulevard in Los Angeles.
