Last week the morning news show host underwent a bone marrow transplant, with her colleagues, clad in surgical masks, by her side witnessing the process.

But some observers feel that ABC has stepped into the exploitation zone since there’s been so much coverage on Robin, says the Associated Press.
“It’s a fine line between educating the audience and bringing them up to date, and crossing over and turning that into a ratings booster or an audience grabber,” said Arthur Caplan, director of medical ethics at the New York University Langone Medical Center.
However, since the coverage, Robin’s story has likely encouraged thousands to sign up for the blood and bone marrow registry to help save lives.
According to the Associated Press, 44,000 people have signed up since June, when she first revealed her illness.

The media needs to let this go because Robin herself agreed to it.
I hae to agree, McNasty. I am a avid GMA viewer and I have NO DOUBT that Robin signed up for this. And I am sure she is getting paid a sweet bonus as a result of it… It is what it is. I see nothing wrong with it – especially if it heightens awareness to a medical problem that is often overlooked.
