“I have the utmost respect for him as an actor and as a director,” Washington said. “He’s my hero.”

Although Washington supported Obama in 2008, he He calls himself an independent and said in this election he isn’t committing to either side.

“I listen to both sides of the argument and try to make an assessment,” he said.

Washington was in Washington D.C. along with Olympic champion Michael Phelps and R&B singer Ashanti for an event sponsored by the Boys and Girls Club of America.

  1. I’m not surprised that he would play it safe and say he’s an independent. I guess you wouldn’t want your little white conservative friends in hollywood to think that you would support your own kind. Denzel and Samual, two of the highest paid money making african americans in hollywood never speak up when it pertain’s to their people. I’m so proud of Kerri Washington for speaking at the demoncratic convention and also for Jay-Z and Beyonce supporting Obama in a big way.

  2. “I listen to both sides of the argument and try to make an assessment,”

Like what the fuck is there to listen to from Romney and Ryan?
The man thinks that you, Denzel Washington, doesn’t pay tax and is a free loader off the government.

Someone needs to ask Denzel who was the last Republican he voted for.

Man, we get it. You not going to do or say anything which might invoke the wrath of whitey.
Even in a town as liberal as Hollywood, you can’t admit to being a Democrat.

Hey, anything to make sure them roles keep coming in.

  3. How could anybody of sound mind possibly consider voting for Romney and Ryan considering how they’ve run their campaign? I mean if this is how they run a campaign imagine how they’d govern! Good gawd we’d all be fucked!

  4. Fear?, is a conditioned sickness. YT?, is a grudge holding bytch, who can’t deal with fair competition. And finally? I wish more “Black” people had….balls!!!

  5. Wait. Do all blacks have to share the same thought process? And this makes him a sell out? Thank goodness their is a Condi Rice.

  6. Eastwood was a hero to most
But he never meant shit to me you see
Straight up racist that sucker was
    Simple and plain
    Mothafok him and John Wayne

  7. I am going to say this and be done…..DONE because between the sickening ads and half-azzed irresponsible reporting, the value I used to get is nearly gone.

I keep telling ya’ll to always go to the source. A Primary source of which this is not. Otherwise you will comment on ish and spread ish that shows you don’t know what you talking about.

PLEASE google and read the ENTIRE article in the GQ magazine that this so called article was lifted from and does not mention. GQ magazine. October edition. Then if you still feel the same way, I have no argument. just saying.

    • That would mean that they have to actually find AND read the entire article. That takes too much time and effort.

    • I feel you on the ads. Of late, you can’t even open a new page without muting your volume.
On this article, I’m not sure if it was actually lifted from the GQ article. There doesn’t seem to be any mention of the hero worshipping of Eastwood there. The source may have been from another interview he did while in Washington.

But referring to the GQ article only reinforces what folks said about him here. You see, his so called “independent” stance and listening to both sides, is not new. And he seems to mention it whenever the topic of politics comes up.
I think because of his acting roles, the public may have a somewhat misleading impression of him. When we think of roles like Malcolm X, Glory and Cry Freedom, we can’t help but see a man who is down with the cause. But whenever the topic of racism in Hollywood comes up, he always tries to downplay it. For example, after winning the academy, I heard him saying how there is no racism in deciding who gets roles in Hollywood.

But that doesn’t really make him a bad person. He’s not that different from say, Obama. Just as Denzel called Clint his hero, you have Obama talking that bullshit about Reagan. Obama also doesn’t like to take a public stance on anything deemed controversial. He and Denzel both like to play it safe.
Hmmm …. So doesn’t that make them punk ass …
