*In an interview with Global Grind, rapper and saved man, Earl “DMX” Simmons, revealed that he is now a deacon at his church.
When asked about preaching and studying the Bible, here is what he said:
“Yeah, I read the whole bible. I just been made a deacon at the church I used to go to – Morning Star. I would like my first sermon to be there or inYonkers. The biggest step is not in the studying, reading, but the wanting to change the way you live. Wanting different things for yourself, and making that change because if you still want to drink and smoke, you could read as much as you want, that doesn’t mean you’re ready.”
Can you imagine him at the front of the church yelling in his ‘Rough Rider’s Voice’ the Lord’s Prayer?
Interesting visual.
That sermon is going to be interesting, but possibly quite perplexing.

I would be there to see him preach front and center! My eyes would be so wide! That
would be a sight to see. I know the opening and closing prayer would be mind blown.
Imagine him singing “The Covo” in church! WOW! LOL! For those who haven’t heard that
song, please do yourself a service and check it out. It has a great message in that song.
It’s on his first album “It’s Dark And Hell Is Hot.

Actually, DMX has always been a religious person. Like all of his albums has a religious song on it.
Lord Give Me A Sign
Let me know whats on your mind
Let me know what I’m gone find
It’s all in time
Show me how to teach the mind
Show me how to reach the blind
Lord give me a sign!
Show me what I got to do
To bring me closer to you
Cause I’m gonna go through
What ever you want me to
Just let me know what to do
Lord give me a sign!!
I cosign with both of you….DMX may have his issues but he is not a nutcase that people make him out to be.
I didn’t like Lord Give Me A Sign.
I remember a Vibe, or XXL, or Source interview on DMX when he was reigning king of Hip Hop and he was asked what would he be if he wasn’t a rapper and he said a pastor. He said he always felt that was his calling and many in his entourage agreed. May not jive with his image and his past troubles, however, I’ve lived on this planet long enough to know that when people don’t heed their TRUE calling, trouble isn’t too far behind or your progress is impeded because you’re going against what you’re supposed to be doing.
As Reds mentioned, DMX has always had a song on this with a religious message. He also gave a very moving prayer when Aaliyah died.
I wish him well and Godspeed on his journey.
should read “…a song on his albums with a religious message.”
Ummm, Deacons don’t preach…but its a start…
Exactly. Further, I think when he decides to truly accept his calling, he’ll go to theology school or at the very least begin to study with a minister.
You need to go back to church! Deacons do deliver sermons. Even in the Catholic church Deacons deliver the gospel. If you are feeling it, preach it DMX!

God said come as you are. DMX heard his calling and I’m happy for DEACON ROUGH RYDER.
