michael turner*Maybe it was a case of celebrating too hard because of his team, the Atlanta Falcon’s victory, the night before over Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos.

In any event, Atlanta Falcons running back Michael Turner was jailed on charges of drunken driving and speeding early Tuesday, just hours after he scored a touchdown in the game at the Georgia Superdome.

Turner, 30, of Suwanee, Ga., was booked into the Gwinnett County jail in metro Atlanta just after 5 a.m. Turner spent barely two hours behind bars before he was released on $2,179 bond, jail records show.

Gwinnett County sheriff’s Lt. Sean Smith said the police gave Turner a traffic ticket that said he was speeding 32 mph over the limit before he was pulled over.

“According to the information on the ticket, he was doing 97 mph in a 65 mph zone,” Smith said.
