The rap mogul celebrated ahead of the gig with the grand opening of his new 40/40 club inside of the Barclays Center, a multi-billion dollar complex that features in addition to the arena 101 luxury suites, four bars and a selection of other clubs and retail outlets.

Rihanna, J. Cole and Lyor Cohen were among the celebs on hand for the opening.

Wearing a tux and bowtie, Jay Z welcomed friends and family to the launch and told reporters: “Yeah I think I’m the American dream. That whole thing that you could come here and pull yourself up by the bootstraps, like that whole thing what America has always put up to the world that we represent. I feel that. Yes, I’ve lived that.”

Tickets for Jay-Z’s first show were a hot commodity, with floor seats commanding more than $600 on the secondary market.

Other stars slated to perform at the center’s 19,000 capacity arena include Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Green Day, Barbra Streisand and Rihanna.

The new Brooklyn Nets will play their first game at the arena on October 15.
