*If you haven’t heard, tomorrow is the day that former Fugees member Wyclef releases his autobiography.
In “PURPOSE: An Immigrant’s Story,” Wycleff talks about everything from his impoverished childhood in Haiti, to becoming a big star.
He also answers the question that fans have been asking for years: why did the Fugees break up?
The answer, says Jean, is that Lauryn Hill tricked him into believing her firstborn son, Zion, was his. But we all know now that the father is Rohan Marley.
“In that moment something died between us,” Jean writes in “PURPOSE.” “I was married and Lauryn and I were having an affair, but she led me to believe that the baby was mine, and I couldn’t forgive that.”
Jean goes on to say that the betrayal he felt from Hill led to the band’s breakup.
EUR’s Ricardo Hazell is scheduled to speak with Wyclef Jean today and will have our exclusive report tomorrow.

*Kanye shrugs*
I honestly think Lauryn Hill missed her calling. She could have clearly won an Oscar with her acting chops. She is an EXCELLENT actor. When she was a muiscian, she posed as a righteous, self-aware young woman with morals and discretion. Turns out she was having an affair with not one, but two married men. She had the world fooled. Well, at least she had me fooled. I listed to “MisEducation” and thought “this lady gets it, she’s got class and she’s talented and she’s strong and upright.” What a crock!
On another note, I think it’s really tacky for Jean to bring this up now, but whatever.
My sentiments exactly! I truly hate he wrote this book. Wonder if he’s semi-broke…hmmm?? I also wonder if he included a chapter about that other woman (posing as his manager) who was sent him nude photos and caused problems with his wife.
I don’t keep up with this group or any others for that matter, but I don’t think it’s tacky to bring the paternity of her child. I’m no fan of ‘clef but, I bet like a lot of men, I imagine he was pretty upset about being lied to, especially since she knew he was married.
Well, there’s always two sides to a story. Until i hear the other side, i ain’t believing nothing Wyclef has to say, regarding him and Lauryn (and her first born child). This sounds like a trick to sell some books.
I agree sillysilk. He’s not the outstanding citizen himself especially when pulling off scams on behalf of the Haiti people victimized in the hurricane and then cheating on his wife. He really got some nerves. I think its so tacky to bring up his matters about the baby situation as well. So unneccessary. We all knew L. Boogie is no saint when she fell for the bait to have five to six kids by a married man so go figure.
