I think there’s a difference when Black men date white women and when white men date Black women. For black men it’s a step up on the social ladder. When he walks into the company x-mas party with a blonde or extremely light skinned Black woman or Asian woman etc. on his arm he makes an impression and statement that is not conveyed when he walks in with a brown skinned sister – He has arrived! It’s unfortunate but society values blonde hair and blue eyes above all else.
When a white man steps into the same x-mas party with his brown skinned Black woman he has also arrived – because he’s a white male. If the Black woman steps away from him during the course of the party or if someone did not see her arrive on the white man’s arm she’s back at her regular status of persona non grata in the larger scheme of society.
The white woman or extremely light skinned Black woman retains her elevated status no matter who she is with – Mariah, A. Keys, J. Lopez. We hardly know what Robert Diniro’s Black wife (or other white male celebs with non white wives) looks like cause they hardly ever show her but when a Black male celebrity is with a white or non black woman she’s almost always being photoed next to him – Kanye.

I feel a person can date whomever they feel – I only have a problem with it when someone loses his/her identity in the coupling! I have dated outside of my race – but you can dam sure believe the woman I was with was well aware that I AM A BLACK MAN! She can date whomever she wants. The problem I have with interracial dating is when a person make it a POINT to date outside there race and displays such self-hatred. I’ve talked to black men who said they only date white women or non-black women. It’s sickening. Love should have no color, but when you blatently say that you only date a certain race or don’t date a certain race, that’s when I think there are deep rooted issues. Most of her boyfriends have been black from what I know however I could not date someone that makes money off my career unless he was my manger. Never a good ideal to mix money and love when it comes to a career. BTW, I hope she did dump her father for this guy.
