*Cedric the Entertainer’s job is on the line after suffering a loss in ratings following a battle between the TV Land networks’ parent company Viacom and satellite network DirecTV.
The comedian and lead of “The Soul Man,” debuted with the second highest ratings in the network’s history, but since then the show’s been losing momentum, and may not come back for a second season.
So Ced, according to AlwaysAlist.com, is petitioning fans to write letters and attempt to convince the network that the show should stay. Providing a “template” letter and the name of the executive it should be emailed to, he writes on Facebook:
“Ladies and Gentlemen,
I need your help… if you liked my show on TV Land, The Soul Man, then please take part in my letter writing campaign to bring it back for a second season. Just use the following letter and email it on… we want to make the biggest impact so if you have a moment please email. Thank you, I’ll Holla Cedric”

PLEASE BRING “THE SOUL MAN” BACK TO TV LAND
———————————–
Dear TV Land (re: The Soul Man):
We love “The Soul Man”! We are writing to you in hopes that our letter of support will encourage you to bring “The Soul Man” back to TV Land for another season.
After watching the debut of “The Soul Man” in June, we have become regular viewers /fans of that show and the TV Land network enjoying so much of your other programming such as “Hot in Cleveland” as well as the classic shows. It’s so refreshing to do “one-stop-shopping” at your network for quality family programming.
Please hear our voices and bring “The Soul Man” back to TV Land! Thank you for your kind consideration.
Sincerely,
Fan Name”

I’m a hugh fan of Cedric, but this show is horrible. I was soo excited that he had a show, but when I watched a little of the first episode it was hard to finish. I hope it stay’s on for his sake, but I won’t be watching it.
I thought the show had potential. But I also felt that this show should be shown on regular TV, not cable & change the time the show comes on….
Sometimes shows need a chance to “find themselves” and grow. I also thought the show had potential, and I hope it comes back for another season. They brought in Loretta Devine as his mother at the end of the first season, and I think she will definitely give the show a comedic edge. If Tyler Perry’s horrible sitcoms can stay on the air, why not Soul Man?
I mean, it’s all ninja sh!ithe if you ask me. Tyler Perry’s shows, Soul Man, and that Malcolm Jamal Warner / Tracee Ellis Ross vehicle, just don’t make the mark. Take out the corny, desperate, neurotic nature of Ms. Ross’ Joan character from “Girlfriends”, and “Reed Between the Lines” just might have had a chance. Ms. Ross is actually a beautiful, curvaceous sister, but allowing the comedic to overshadow the woman costs her character, and ultimately cost the sitcom its existence.
We need to bring back black shows with production value and not really on corny humor. I mean, “I Wanna Have Sex Witchu” was the joint, but one-show hits just don’t make a season.
Something on the order of The Cosby Show, which had comedy, but had maturity and intelligence, not just low-brow, low-grade comedy for the common man. Something that lifts us up not only spiritually, as Tyler Perry’s plays/films purport to, but something that lifts us up intellectually/mentally and shows us something to aspire to. A lawyer mom and an ob/gyn dad, living in a beautiful brownstone in Harlem, with friends in all levels of society. I TRULY miss that.
HHCassius, I totally agree . . . .house of Payne and TP’s other shows, are an absolute horror . . .I tuned into Soul man b/c of Cedric, and I was not suprised that I was disappointed. Some how, ya’ just know a show is a dud. Some folk just can’t carry a show and when you have a cast of duds, Sorry to say it but you’re just fucked.
Sorry can’t help Ceddie I never watched the show and one reason was because I am tired of Niece Nash did not want to see her aymore I’m just sayin……………… she is not funny to me
