*Whitney Houston’s mother Cissy Houston fears she has little influence over the late superstar’s daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown because she never got the chance to spend quality time with her grandchild as she was growing up.

“When you have a teenager who’s 19-years-old, who loses her mother and really don’t feel like she has to listen… you can’t make anybody do anything,” said Cissy this morning on The View, appearing with her son Gary Houston and daughter-in-law Pat. “You try to suggest and you try to guide her and all that kinda business and that’s exactly what we’re trying to do, trying to guide her into a life that’s going to make her better…
“A lot of times (I think) I might make a bigger difference, maybe, but I’ve never been around her that much because she was always on the road with her mom.”
As a precaution, the executors of Whitney Houston’s estate (her mother and sister-in-law Marion Houston) – recently filed a legal petition to restructure inheritance payments to Bobbi Kristina in a bid to protect her fortune.
The drama with Bobbi Kristina will be seen on the Lifetime reality series “The Houstons: On Our Own,” premiering Oct. 24 at 9 p.m.
Well, if you’re trying to “raise her” then that’s a problem- as sincere as the effort may be. Here’s the truth – Bobbie Kristina is grown. Mrs. Houston, you missed that opportunity and I don’t believe it was ever yours; it was her mother’s. All you can do at this point is keep doing what you’ve been doing – offer her guidance and hope that she listens. More importantly, when she falls (and she will) just be there.

Wow. That’s sad, IMO. Growing up, I was closer to my grandmother than to my own mother. I still love my grandmother to pieces. I think it is very sad when there is no connection between grandparents and their grands. There is so much learn and love. Besides the drugs, there might’ve been other issues going on which made Whitney keep BK close to her. Much to BK’s detriment, of course. Very sad.
NYCsoul, you are so on point. I am MUCH closer to my grandmother than I am my own mother and I find myself loving my two granddaughters like my grandmother loved me. She’s really sick now and it feels like my world is falling apart. I can’t even begin to fathom life without my beloved “Nanny”…so I can totally feel you…
well, according the award winning “mediatakeout” it’s gonna be a bit MORE challenging since the afore mentioned MTO, says she’s pregnant with her brother/boyfriend’s baby. . . . .Maybe she went with Whitney because Cissy herself was gone a lot on tour. We’ll never know.
That stank is 19 she is done being raised!
