*That mess was pitiful. Mitt Romney didn’t win last night’s Presidential debate. President Obama gave it away.
Barack Obama is an incumbent President with an admirable record of accomplishments, but he didn’t act like it Wednesday night on the debate stage. The President could have easily run the stage but, for some bizarre reason, he played a weak, apologetic and defensive game. President Obama allowed Mitt Romney to dominate the discussion, to trash his record and to define him.
Over and over again, President Obama allowed Gov. Romney to get away with outrageous, easily-refutable claims. The President did a pretty good job of challenging Romney’s newly-minted claim that he won’t reduce income taxes for the rich. But Obama blew it when Romney accused him of cutting $716 billion from MediCare, and claimed that the President’s healthcare reform law will cost jobs and force people to lose their medical insurance. When Romney made those allegations, the President should’ve pushed back hard with the facts – but he didn’t.
And when Romney stated, over and over again, that he is compassionate toward the poor, children and the elderly, President Obama could’ve hit an easy homerun by mentioning Romney’s cruel, inaccurate and elitist claim that 47% of Americans think of themselves as victims entitled to government handouts and who are not willing to take responsibility for their lives. But the President didn’t do that either.
Worst of all, President Obama didn’t defend his record. He didn’t brag about the 18 months of private sector job growth, or the 4 million jobs created on his watch or the fact that he saved the American auto industry. He didn’t talk about the American Jobs Act and his other employment bills that were killed by Republicans in the House and Senate. He didn’t play up his defense of women’s reproductive rights, or women’s right to equal pay for equal work. Neither did he dwell on his support for marriage equality, immigration reform and the DREAM Act
And when Mitt Romney accused him of failing to bring bipartisan leadership to Washington, President Obama should’ve pointed out that he bent over backwards to cooperate with the Republicans on Capitol Hill, but that he was rebuffed blocked at every turn.
But the worst part of Wednesday’s debate was President Obama’s pathetic closing argument, which was a basically rehash of his wimpy Democratic National Convention speech – only wimpier. Instead of touting his achievements and telling the American people why they are better off now than they were four years ago, President Obama apologized for his imperfections and begged folks to vote for him. That is not leadership. Especially for a President who has accomplished so much in the face of historic challenges and unprecedented opposition.
President Obama has a proud record and the best plan for the future of our nation. His heart is in the right place, he’s on the right side of the issues and his policies are working! He is simply a better man for America than Mitt Romney. The polls show that the public trusts him.
Mitt Romney can’t beat him. But if he doesn’t put up his dukes and start fighting, President Obama could mess around and beat himself.

If you somehow missed the debate or would like to see it again, here it is:

This failed performance could cost Obama the election. All that debate prep paid off BIG time for Romney. Now the GOP machine is fueled and ready to go hard until election day.
I have already voted and gave by support to the President, but I will admit that I am disappointed in the debate. There were many areas of ammo that the Prez could have used on Romney and he played it safe. Romney told some untruths, but he did that so well and the Prez just let him do it.
I was dumbfounded and I actually lost a little sleep. Prez we cannot do all of the defending if you do not defend youself. I have been glued to politics, made donations, ensured that folks were registered. I feel as though I should officially go back to my regular television programs and see what happens Nov 6.
I have already voted and done my part……I feel like Im done. ………Guys please help me to feel differently. oh, and Jim Lehrer was awful.
Your assessment of the debate is spot on. There were plenty of areas to challenge Romney on, but there was virtually no challenge. He was aggressive and condescending and arrogant and it worked! That’s so sad, that a p.o.s like that could actually be all of those things and still win. It shows the weakness of this president.
Also, I knew eventually his capitulation during his tenure would catch up to him and it did last night. Romney even called him out on Bush’s tax cuts. “If they were so bad, why didn’t you rescind them when you had the chance?” *Crickets* And on healthcare Obama’s “I liked your plan so much I copied it” tactic is a major fail as well. His desire to be Republican lite instead of being bold in progressivism came back to bite him last night.
I am very disappointed in Obama’s performance last night. He was clearly somewhere else and just gave it away. He cannot be this passive in the next two debates. He has to bring his A game or that loon Romney may snatch the presidency from him. My feeling is this let them think you are an abm so what just get the job done. Take no prisoners!
I will support O’b at the pols but, ‘ol boy bes’ put some “stew” in his pot . . .The last “wimp” I voted for was Carter (I am a woman of a certain age) , . . . .nice guy, family man, devoted to his wife, habitat-for-humanity and a wonderful human being . . . but, he wasn’t POTUS material . . . . .baby boy needs to get his hands dirty . . . N-O-W!! . . . .
I will give that round to Mr Wooden azz( Romney) Pres Obama was not effective at ll in the next debate he will definitely have ot STEP IT UP BIG TIME!!! he is good at debating so show it and stop trying to be nice. Romeny needed to win at least one debate if you want to call that a win he needed to be a bit agressive and even at that he was still wooden and a bore. I will vote for Pres Obama again I think he has done a good job on some things and needs to improve on others, I dam well will not support Romney’s lame azz policies.
another thing, since Pres Obama was asleep last night we needed Pres Clinton up there to debate and shut Romney’s azz down. lol!!!! Go Obama!!!! it is not over yet not by a long shot.
I hope after this Obama will get a wakeup call and finally see that his handlers ain’t worth shit. I’m talking about that suspected racist David Axelrod. They dodged the bullet against Hillary with this “acting presidential” crap. They then continued with the same strategy against McCain, but McCain took the lead in the pools by launching an unanswered sustained attack, with team Obama refusing to “go down to their level.” And he was about to get his tail handed to him if it wasn’t for the last minute collapse of the economy. It’s the same bull shit Axelrod coming with again. I’m pretty sure he told Obama specifically not to mention the 47% percent.
They need to take a page from team Romney and the Republicans. Look back at videos of how Perry, Gingrich and ‘em handled that ass. Control the agenda. Every chance you get, you bring up shit about your opponent. Lehrer’s white sheet wearing ass may not have wanted to talk about the vulture capitalism or the Swiss accounts, but you got to force that in at every chance. I mean, when Romney start spewing his bull about how he was going to hold China accountable, why didn’t Obama interject with Romney running companies into the ground then sending their jobs to China? Then talking about how he believes in the government’s role in society to help the less fortunate. “Oh, you mean the 47% who you say pay no tax and believe that they are entitled to free load off the government? Who you said my job is not to worry about?”
I don’t know if it’s too late, but the Obama campaign need a complete overhaul starting at the top with Axelrod.
The bottomline is the public has already glimpsed the ‘real and unscripted’ Romney in that leaked tape. And the hiring of acting coaches won’t erase that memory.
Melody, you got to realize that there are two types of people who vote. Voters who already know what side they want to be on, and those who are still too clueless to figure that out. They call them swing or independent voters. They are the ones who determine the outcome of an election. They are the type of people who are so naïve that they will now accept Romney’s claim that he cares about the 47% and forget everything he said in the video. Those simple minded people constantly need to be reminded who Romney really is.
But Obama should really look deep inside his campaign. If you had all those weapons to use, and someone in your campaign told you not to, then you might have a mole.
I never trusted David Axelrod. He’s the one who is always advising Obama, including the advice not to have a black agenda.
Obama is behaving in the same restrained manner as he’s been known for in dealing with the Republicans throughout his administration. Maybe he’ll buck up the next time and throw down.
President Barack Obama’s top campaign adviser pledged Thursday morning that there would be “adjustments” in strategy before Obama faces off against Mitt Romney in the second debate.
But those adjustments won’t be massive, David Axelrod said. Rather, it will be the type of tinkering one would expect from a candidate trying to improve upon his listless, widely panned performance in the first debate Wednesday night.
“It is like the playoffs in sports — you evaluate after every contest and you make adjustments,” Axelrod said in a conference call with reporters. “And I’m sure that we will make adjustments. I don’t see us adding huge amounts of additional prep time. I think … there are some strategic judgments that have to be made and we will make them.”
I’m still trying to figure out why people thought about would run the clock on Romney. Did any of you see all of Obama and Romney’s previous debates? This went as I thought it would.
I’m seeing the same level of disappointment as I saw during the 2008 debates. We all Obama to cut Hillary off at her knees. He never did. He didn’t call out Joe Wilson when he called him a liar. He didn’t break Jan Brewers index finger. He invited the cop over for a beer summit.
So why are we surprised he wasn’t more challenging towards Romney. It’s impossible to follow politics and expect much of a different result.
This debate showed that all the attacks on Romney favoring tax cuts for the rich over the middle class and Mediscare were empty and amounted to nothing but good media coverage. They were never substantive arguments and Romney showed why. In the end, Obama will still win.
” In the end, Obama will still win.”
well at least you recognize my Presidents gangsta numbnuts…now come to philly so one of our cops can whip that azz of yours…
More like Cinderella than Gangsta. Romney ran the gangsta nation last night.
No thanks on the invitation for me to come visit you in Philly. I’m gud homie!
“I’m seeing the same level of disappointment as I saw during the 2008 debates. We all Obama to cut Hillary off at her knees. He never did. He didn’t call out Joe Wilson when he called him a liar. He didn’t break Jan Brewers index finger. He invited the cop over for a beer summit.”
You are my hero, for a post.
President Obama does not do anything by accident. Clearly this was a strategy put in play by the President and his team. Perhaps it was to trap Romney into running from the right-wing base and moving to the center, which he pretended to do. Romeny’s strategy might land him into trouble with own people. I am not sure. I think Romney appeared as slimey, dishonest, and crooked as ever. Maybe you are over-reacting, Cameron. I think the the real loser in the debate was Jim Lehrer. He should hang it up. The questions were geared for low information voters who don’t know the differences between liberal, moderate, conservative, and righ-wing ideologies. The debate was booring, I do admit.
It does not matter what was said last night between President Barak Obama or Mitt Romney – Nothing that was said during the debate, changed my mind. My vote has already been made.
“It does not matter what was said last night …”
Really?!
See my response to Melody’s post.
Bless your little spirit. As I said before, it does not matter to me what was said last night, my vote is alredy in. I know where my candidate stands.
You do not know who I am voting for, so your statement to Melody, does not apply to me. Your opinion is your opinion and it is just that
God bless you
Bless your little spirit too, but apparently, you missed the point I was making. Look around you. Like you, everyone here has already made up their mind about who they are voting for. But nevertheless, look how much comment the topic has generated. We are not talking about this because we are worried that it will affect how we or most of the people we know will vote. But nevertheless, we are worried. You see, contrary to what you think, it does matter what was said between Obama and Romney to a small amount of people. And the choices of that minority, is what will ultimately decides the election.
As I said to Melody:
”… there are two types of people who vote. Voters who already know what side they want to be on, and those who are still too clueless to figure that out. They call them swing or independent voters. They are the ones who determine the outcome of an election.”
The point “Ur.Hi Nes” was/is making is…..they don’t giiiiiiiive a damn ABOUT your “lowness” OR “your point”! Ain’t nobawdy “confused” but…..”you”! Hard to swallow that pill, huh? Then just….choke. Fa SHO!
Sniff. What is that smell?!
OMG? It’s our resident mental outpatient wondering aimlessly with his head still stuck up his stank ass.
Oh well. Another day, another delusional rant to end the evening on EUR.
Let Us all pray this was a “possum” move ‘on POTUS part, & he was/is NOT as intimidated by this lying racist, as he appeared last night. I mean….he didn’t “debate like this” against….Hilary!, so why now? His “skills are still there so, again….this haaaaas to have been either two things …”a playing possum move” or?, “they” ain’t g’on LET him be WTF we KNOW he is….”better”!!! Beleeeedat!!
I have to admit…I’m stumped on the POTUS’s lack-luster performance. But like other’s have said…I hope this is all strategy. To sit there and let Romney SPEW all those lies is crazy. I knew Romney would think he was in his boardroom and try to over-talk the President, but I had NO idea that the President would sit there and LET HIM. SMDH…
I disagree entirely. Anyone who’s been paying attention would have recognized that Romney lied about 99 of 100 things that came out of his mouth. Frankly, by my measure, a liar can’t win a debate. That’s why he lies. And let’s get real. All these folks wanting the President to show some aggression don’t want him re-elected. All you have to do is disagree with a white person and they’ll equate it to a drive-by. The GOP is dying for the President to give them the “angry black man.” That’s all they’ve got left. Thankfully, the President is too intelligent to deliver.
The POTUS seemed confused at times and sitting there nodding his head to everything SMUTT…I mean Mitt was saying was not helping his case. Nobody is saying that he has to yell and scream with his arms wailing in the air, but he could have refuted Mitt on a lot of issues and did not. The POTUS didn’t seem himself and looked like he had just lost his puppy.
Romney may have came ready to fight and barked real loud, but his words still held no substance. He still could not tell us exactly what he was going to do to replace Obama care. Obama was relaxed but he had the facts. That’s all that matters in the end. Romney fabricated and fudged numbers. Is that someone you would want to run your country? I mean seriously?? I totally understand why our President approached the situation the way he did. You never give up your Ace the first time around. He and his team are continuing to collect THE FACTS, and I am sure you will hear and see a different story when the next couple of debates happen on the 16th and the 22nd. If Romney becomes President our children will receive less funding from the government for thier education and many programs will be cut. In the end the less fortunate will continue to suffer. He told you that out of his mouth last night. Those are his FACTS!
I couldnt stand to watch as President was clearly mentally not there. He seemed really distracted for some reason. I had a debate with a co-worker this morning who stated that people should have payed more attention to the words beong said; I had to argue that when it comes to a debate it is more than just words, it IS about aggression, stage presence and deliverance. In this case Obama had neither, therefore we couldnt focus on the words he spoke as they were more distracting than anything; he didnt seem comfortable. I’m sure he is not pleased with his performance. So, he better come up with a different stragedy to oppose Mitt fasho
sorry, trying to type too fast while at work: meant “being” and “stradegy”….my apologies
Your comment such as “This failed performance could cost Obama the election.” Please explain to me how is this so? There will be 2 -3 more debates among Romney & Obama. Hopefully there will be town hall meetings where the public will get to ask each candidate questions. Sure Romney appeared aggressive and attacked Obama on several issues. However, I didn’t see where Romney clearly laid out any specifics, and if his ass really wants to win this election he’s going to have to reach out more and connect with immigrants, gays, minorities, women, poor people. Since he’s a Mormon certainly things will unlikely not occur. However, Obama will gain these votes and Romney knows just that.
Could there actually be a method behind the madness in the first debate?
Could we all be wrong and it was actually a brilliant strategy which was way above our heads? A strategy which allowed his opponent to gain more and more confidence in lying, which ultimately would come back to haunt him in the campaign.
So Obama held out the bait and Romney could not help chomping on it. Again and again and again.
Well, one day after the debate, Obama was out calling Romney on his lies. Even more amazing, I heard that an Obama ad was released the next day highlighting one of Romney’s lies. And based on the level of Romney’s gullibility during the debate, there should be enough to last for the rest of the campaign. And even though the general consensus was that Romney “won” the debate, his numerous lies provided enough fodder to keep the pundits quite busy the next day, and who knows for how long they will continue chewing on it?
No method there beyond what we saw. I expect Obama to do better in the next debate but he’s already lost the opportunity to challenge Romney on his falsehood. Not that Obama didn’t hurl out a few himself.
@ Reds…yada yada yada mole troll bytch. And BTW?, that’s your “upper lip” you “smell”! You know, the one that spits all your biased, agenda having,YT agent BS!!? YARN. Witcha arrogant egomaniac azz. The fact that you assume they don’t “understaaaaaand” yo “simple” azz, b/c someone (Ur.Hi Ness/MANY!!) don’t agree with you!?? Trick!?, YOU’Z the delusional one! FOH & take that back to …..massa. Still yarning!
No, it’s you trying to pull your head out of your ass that’s causing the stench.
But since they allowing you to stay off the mental ward for wkend, I hope you got your meds.
Anyway, I’m looking forward to be entertained by your usual gibberish.
”don’t agree with you!”
Dumb ass, this thread not only proves that most folks here agree with me, but it also provides further evidence that you are paranoid and delusional.
In case your retarded ass forgot, all the criticisms I have ever made of Obama is of him being subservient, pandering to or even wanting to kiss Republicans ass.
And isn’t that what virtually all of the comments, including yours, are saying about his performance in the debate?
No, you didn’t say it in this thread. You said it here:
“I” say again, he’s being controlled/told NOT to fight back, to give the GOP a fkn chance. “That” is the ONLY explanarion, here! …. Or?…he “played possuis, tonight, to feel MR out? Maaaaaybe. ….”I” tend to believe my 1st theory!”
And you said it right after I said this:
”why was he acting so timid? Why was he afraid to attack Romney considering all the chances he was given?”
Yeah, your ass followed right after, seconding what I said about your “Obie”. :lol
That statement also provides further confirmation about what I have always maintained about you. That you are delusional. If me criticizing Obama’s tactics makes me a ”white mole troll”, does it also make you one?
No, I don’t believe you are a mole. I believe you are a pathetic case of someone suffering from paranoia and delusion.
And every time your psychotic ass spews that delusional bullshit, I’ll throw that shit you said about Obama right back at you.
Oh, so your deluded ass also believes that I’m an arrogant egomaniac for voicing my opinion of Obama?
If I was one, then I might be stroking my ego right now. Because seeing how many of you are finally finding your voice to criticize Obama, I might be tempted into believing that you couldn’t see what TGen, Herbs, a few others and myself so often see in him. But it has always been my assumption that most EUR subscribers are apologists, who won’t bring themselves to criticize Obama despite the obvious. I mean, the last time I saw so many of you going in on him like that was years ago after the beer summit. But as Herbs said, this is nothing new from Obama.
No mothafuca. I’m not trying to get anyone here to AGREE with me. Y’all already do.
Beleeeeeedat!!! :lol
