*The Usher Raymond v. Tameka Foster case is not quite finished.
CBS Atlanta actually launched an investigative report on the judge who granted the singer custody of their two children.
Questions arose about the relationship between Usher’s lawyer and the deciding judge a while back, along with a few other holes in the case.
The former couple returned to the court just last week after Usher’s ex-wife asked the judge to recuse herself from the case; and requested a new trial. She’s fighting it.
Monday night, CBS Atlanta News aired a special report surrounding the suspicions of the case, noting that some Georgia judges avoid disclosing their relationships with attorneys. It’s a perfectly legal practice, but does draw up thoughts about fair trials.
When Judge Bensonetta Tipton Lane awarded full custody to Usher, Tameka’s attorney learned that Usher’s celebrity lawyer may have helped her get re-elected in 2008.
Interesting.

Busted wide open?!
Whatever EUR. We all knew that the judge was on Usher’s lawyer payroll. So much so that he has won every case that he has ever brought in front of the judge. Furthermore, he has had 100% of his highest profile cases before this court.
But still the woman has not been granted a new trial. Will this extra publicity make a difference?
We will just have to wait and see.
I’m not a on the team nor a fan of either but, while it is legal not to disclose judge/lawyer relationship, it just doesn’t seem right.
I recall reading an article that indicated that Usher’s attorney had donated $$$ to the judge’s reelection campaign.
The same article showed that the attorney representing Tameka also donated $$$ to the judge’s reelection campaign.
I am distrustful of both Usher & Tameka. I see Tameka as someone that had no issues leaving the other kids when she ran off with Usher…
I see Usher as someone that had no issues taking a mother from her children… now he wants to cry foul… because now this affects his children!
I hope there is an advocate for the children! Usher & Tameka deserve each other!
“The same article showed that the attorney representing Tameka also donated $$$ to the judge’s reelection campaign.”
No, that’s not exactly correct.
Lisa West, Tameka’s attorney, never contributed to the judge’s re-election campaign.
Tameka’s co-counsel, who assisted Lisa West, was hired by a law firm that contributed to the judge’s re-election.
While it is not “exactly” correct… there was an attorney at Tameka’s table who works for a firm that contributed.
The amounts were small and it happened a few years ago… 2008.
OK, so even though his law firm is the one who made the contribution, something that he didn’t have anything to do with at the time, and probably doesn’t even work for them anymore, you think that’s comparable to Usher’s lawyer who has not only been a long time contributor, but actively engages in arranging fundraisers for the judge’s election campaign?
Uhm! Fair enough.
But I guess the judge didn’t see it your way, because Usher’s lawyer was the one who reaped the benefits, not Tameka’s co-counsel, whose law firm contributions the judge seemed to care less about.
Judges are lawyers, so that is who they associate professionally. Lawyers are the citizen-group most interested in judicial elections. Even if Tameka’s lawyer didn’t contribute to this judge, most likely he/she contributed to another. If judges had to recuse every time a lawyer who donated to their campaign came before them, the judicial system would come to a stand still. There’s got to be more to a conflict of interest allegation than political contributions.
I think there is a reason Usher stepped in and had no other choice to take his kids from Tameka. He simply doesn’t strike me as mean spirited asshole but obviously saw something that we’re not privy to and had to do what he had to do with and for his kids. I honestly feel she was using those kids as a meal ticket and then she was SUPER embarrassed that he was playing her from beginning to end. It can’t get any worse to know that your husband boned one of your bridesmaids before your wedding so that tells us, Usher wasn’t so in madly in love with her like she thought…they’re both paying the price of looking stupid because everybody saw this coming just like we know the sun rises in the east and sets in the west..
Just out of curiosity for all the “objective” minded folks up in here who seems OK with or democracy for allowing unlimited contributions to judges from the very lawyers who will be arguing cases before them. How many of you would be cool if you had a divorce case where a lot were at stake, then come to find out that your spouse’s lawyer was making all types of contributions to the judge, while yours didn’t? The same judge who also ruled in his favor 100% of the time.
Still all good? Let’s go right ahead with the case then.
Usher appeal to higher court and let the appeals court be done with it and he,.Or get the best lawyers that money can buy, which will dry up your EX’s bank account.
Where is she getting the money anyhow to fight you?
Usher had to foot the bill for Tameka’s attornies!
