The blatant cultural disrespect in this shyt?, is truly fkd up! Umm…..note to YT…”it takes waaaaay more than a fkn “afro”, to achieve “Blackness”, Ahiiiight!? I swear!!!, We are SO overdue for “boycotting the traitor/fake azzes & demanding respect from these “oh it don’t matter” racist muthafkahs Like…..HTF would SHE feel if “Halle’s yella azz” was cast as….”Celia Cruz” our some shyt!!?? Yo…we also should start holding the S. Dash’s , J. Walkers, “this bytch” & any other’s accountable for their fkd up actions, instead of getting “amnesia” & letting their azzes in the “BET/Soultrain awards, just so they can get a GD…”"photo opt” WITH “Us”. And BTW chick, you need a “poakchop sammich” or SUMPtin!!! For reeeeeeal!!! FOH & stick to portraying the people you “personally identify” with, b/c “those people?, SHOLE ain’t “Us”!. This movie isn’t going to get any traction, even straight to video! The casting is just insulting and without excuse. I’m offended…….

This going back to the days of is Black Face. When whites wore black makeup to look like us. This movie is disrepectful to Nina Simone’s memory. I will not support it. I like Zoe’s other movies.
I agree with all the above posters, and might I add whomever did the make up just slapped the dark powder on, some parts of Zoe’s face look two toned.
I echo Claudia Jackson’s sentiments. I don’t care of the bitch got one drop of black blood in her, this is just blackface. And it’s more than black face, it’s black face/head/neck/arms/etc/etc….
Zoe should have passed on this one. I’ll look it up to make sure this ain’t another Taye Diggs/Wesley Snipes errantly-attributed comment about her ethnicity…
And for the record, I have found nothing online where it’s Zoe Saldana denying her blackness, it’s other black folk denying her blackness for her, like they have the right to determine or classify or categorize or narrow her multicultural heritage and ethnicity. I’ll admit the Nina Simone casting is all Hollywood in all its racist glory, but let’s point the finger — if you’re Zoe Saldana, are YOU gonna turn down a paycheck? But yes, she should have.
She looks real crazy in this makeup. Who does this? Its just shameful that whoever is making this movie didn’t try to make a better selection for someone to play Nina Simone.
