*According to a report at Rhymes with Snitch, producers of a proposed Whitney Houston biopic are thinking Idris Elba and maybe Anthony Mackie when it comes to the Bobby Brown role.
Other names being kicked around for the starring role include the usual suspects including Jennifer Hudson and Halle Berry, among others. Meanwhile, Bobbi Kristina would be cast as … Bobbi Kristina.
Well, if that’s true, why couldn’t Bobby Brown be cast to play himself? Maybe because Cissy Houston, Whitney’s mother, would hav e a lot of say so about who’s casted and who isn’t. And we all know Mama Cissy and Bobby ain’t exactly on the same page.
Anyway, speaking of Cissy, the report also says Dianne Carroll and James Earl Jones are on the wish list to play Whitney’s parents John and Cissy Houston.
The film supposedly won’t sugar coat Whitney’s drug use or her tumultuous marriage to Brown.
Idris Elba??? I don’t THINK so. They should get Flava Flav to play Bobby in this movie.

No, no, no….not Idris….LOL….the role would not be right for him. I would consider Derek Luke as Bobby Brown if that’s the case. Please, Please not Halle Berry again, she cannot be cast as everyone and no J. Hud for this role either. I would consider Heather Hedley, Joy Bryant and maybe Vivica Fox….just throwing some names out there.

They need a younger actor to play Bobby Brown. It will be easier to make a younger actor appear 20 years older on screen than it would be to make an older actor (Idris) look 20 years younger (i.e when Bobby and Whitney first met and the married).
Yeah, whoever plays Bobby Brown will have to have a little more ratchet affect than Idris Elba. It’s like asking Laurence Olivier to play Lenny Bruce in the 60s — WHY??!!
I would think that guy who played Jimi Hendrix and was in Remember the Titans and The Wire would have been considered before Stringer Bell. Derek Luke is still just a LEETLE refined. What about the guy that played the young Taye Diggs in ‘The Wood’?
