*Alicia Keys is trying to squash ongoing talk that she began dating husband Swizz Beatz while he was still married.
The music producer and singer Mashonda separated in 2008, just before Beatz, real name Kasseem Dean, began seeing Keys.
The “Girl on Fire” hitmaker has been dogged by rumors she broke up the former couple’s four-year marriage, but she claims to have done nothing wrong.
“(Mashonda and Beatz) were apart for some time before we ever got together,” she tells Jet magazine, (but) that doesn’t matter to those who take pleasure in trying to knock others down.”
And Keys, who exchanged vows with Beatz in 2010, insists she is tired of having to defend herself to the media: “There’s no need to fight what’s not true.”

Bottom line, man or woman, famous or not, if someone who is separated hollas at you, your response should also be “call me after the divorce is final”. If not, don’t act surprised when you’re caught up in their divorce drama.

Apparently this issue has remained on Alicia’s mind, or conscious. Now all of a sudden she’s willing to talk and re-surface some mess that occurred over four (4) years ago. What’s the damn problem, when she has already married the dog? She can attempt to deny certain things all she wants to. However, there’s no deviation from the real truth to the matter that remains as is. The type of relationship that her and Swizz carried on while he was still legally married to Mashonda wasn’t appropriate, but rather classles and low. Alicia claimed she had done nothing wrong and stated that Swizz and Mashonda were apart for some time before they got together. Even though Swizz had seperated from Mashonda, they were still married. Laugh online, Swizz continued on messing with his wife, other women, and Alicia. In fact Alicia has made songs like “Superwoman”, and “A Woman’s Worth” and never hesitated on messing around with a man, even if his sorry no good monkey looking ass was separated from his wife. Alicia played a role as she came between a marriage and a family by becoming the other woman. Nevertheless, she still made a choice with a man like this to start and raise a family with is unbelievable. Swizz had also fathered a little girl outside of his marriage to Mashonda, More than likely Alicia is probably one of those women who think she has successfully stolen a man from another woman foolishly believing this man will be different with her etc. Sh*t we all know by now that no one can steal man who doesn’t want to be stolen. Swizz, maybe a better producer, rapper, and player player rather than some faithful husband. I’ll give Alicia & Swizz less than 5 more years together before he start seeking some new booty.

From what I read somewhere else, Beatz had already cheated on his now ex-wife with someone else before Keyes and even had a child by her—go figure—-so it seems like her marriage was already ending before Keyes came into the picture.
