*Progressive political group Move On is calling for Donald Trump to be dumped as a spokesperson for Macy’s department stores.
Trump appears in a holiday advertisement for the retail chain, in which he alludes to his questions about President Barack Obama’s citizenship by questioning Santa Claus’s true identity.
Move On has now authored an online petition calling for Macy’s to fire the real estate mogul over his history of controversial comments.
The group said in its petition: “Donald Trump does not reflect the ‘magic of Macy’s’. We urge you to sever ties with him. Macy’s says it has a strong obligation to be ‘socially responsible’ and that ‘actions speak louder than words’. Indeed. It’s time to act.”
Trump was also chided by Move On for allegedly making sexist comments about female celebrities, denying climate change and criticizing US trade policy with China even though Macy’s does business with the country.
At press time, Move On’s petition had been signed by more than 450,000 people.
Superstar Cher even got in on the action, urging her Twitter followers on Sunday to get involved.
“I’ll NEVER GO TO MACY’S AGAIN ! I didn’t know they sold Donald Trump’s Line! If they don’t care that they sell products from a LOUDMOUTH,” Cher wrote.
Trump has not specifically addressed the petition, but did tweet on Monday (November 12): “Just saw my new line of shirts, ties & suits @Macys — they are fantastic! Would make great holiday presents!”

real talk, i was in macy bout 6 months ago and found a tie that i thought was kinda fly, was heading to the counter to pay for it and as i was walking i happened to look at the back of the tie to make sure that it was 100% silk and realized it was trumps brand. i dropped it on the floor, walked on top of it and left the store. today i signed th petition. over.

We could do better by boycotting Trump’s next apprentice. Apparently he was filming during the time he made the stupid offer. Omarosa was on the Roland Martin show. She mentioned that it was somewhat uncomfortable. They are under contract to complete the show… and boycott his sponsors. That is how we make a difference.

A new book on the case by New York Daily News staff writer Sarah Burns, called The Central Park Five: A Chronicle of a City Wilding, suggests that Trump’s incendiary rhetoric was one of numerous factors which resulted in injustice for the Central Park defendants.

The newspapers did a great job of dividing the city! I did not remember the full-page ads! 1989 was the year I left NY. That is likely why I don’t remember.

If the major retailer has reason to believe they will suffer the consequences… they will have to make a decision as to which side of the line they want to be on.

I too will sign the petition. Unfortunately I rarely go into a Macy’s, but I’ve ordered from Papa’s John’s and will definitely send an email explaining why I will now switch to getting my pizzas elsewhere
