Pop/R&B singer/actress Ny’Aira (Pasadena, CA) won ‘Best Vocals at ULMII

*(Los Angeles, CA ) – On October 20, 2012 the last Los Angeles “Uplifting Minds II” (ULMII) entertainment conference’s national talent competition showcase went world-wide again when a competitor from Iran joined the line-up. It was Los Angeles residents Ny’Aira, Mesiyah and Charles Fletcher that walk away as the winners though.

The one-day “ULMII” conference started with a seminar panel consisting of Pierre Neilly, artist marketing and promotions director at Boosweet Records and also presenters of the event and event founder/coordinator Eunice Moseley, promotions director at The Baltimore Times and president/senior consultant at the Los Angeles based public relations/media and promotions consultant firm, Freelance Associates. A “breakout artist” showcase was held next with performances by three “ULMII” veterans – R&B singers Trueful (Pasadena, CA) and former vocal winner Matthew Aaron (Mississippi), and former songwriting winner rapper SLM (Bellflower, CA).

The talent competition, in vocal, songwriting and dance, ended the conference where acts from as far as Iran came to perform. Highlights include Sam Moshfegh on guitar (Iran); Trueful singing hid original titled “Beast;” Justin Mullen on horn (Los Angeles); nine year-old Mesiyah (Los Angeles) won “Best Dance”; rapper Charles Fletcher (Los Angeles) won “Best Songwriter” for his selection titled ‘I Will See You Again,” and tween sensation Pop/R&B singer/actress Ny’Aira (Pasadena, CA) won “Best Vocals” for her cover of James Brown’s “It’s A Man’s World.”

Judges for the talent showcase were Film Director Trey Haley (Tri Destined Films/Note to Self); Artist Marketing/Promotions Director Pierre Neilly (Boosweet Records, www.Boosweet.com); Radio Personality/Program Director Charmaine Bassett  of the “Lady Charmaine Live” show (Praise 98FM, www.Praise98FM.com) and former radio jock/Internet magazine Publisher Lee Bailey of Electronic Urban Report (www.EURweb.com). Closing performance was by “ULMII” veterans from San Antonio, Texas, 2-U-NEEK, who performed their newest original single “Out of Control.” The conference was held at the Celebrity Centre (Hollywood).

The 13 year-old “Uplifting Minds II” free entertainment conference is offered annually in Baltimore and Los Angeles – totaling three dates a year. Its goal is to education artists and entertainment industry people about the business of entertainment and showcase talent in the “break-out” and national talent competition for those who can open industry doors. It has plenty of success stories as a result of artist/industry executes attending and participating in “Uplifting Minds II.”
