*Jay-Z and Robert De Niro got into a heated discussion this week at a New York restaurant, with Beyonce eventually stepping in to calm things down, according to the New York Post.
All three were dining at West Village hotspot The Darby on Saturday, for Leonardo DiCaprio’s birthday. Jay-Z reportedly approached De Niro’s table to say hello, and the actor criticized the rapper for not returning his phone calls, deeming Jay “disrespectful.”
“Bob wasn’t in any mood to make polite conversation,” the source for the New York Post claimed, “he told Jay that if somebody calls you six times, you call them back. It doesn’t matter who you are, that is just rude.” Jay-Z reportedly tried to pass off the whole thing as a joke, claiming he’s terrible at returning phone calls, but De Niro was not amused.
The source of the heated discussion was a song that Jay had allegedly agreed to record for the Tribeca film festival, which the actor founded it in 2002 alongside Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff. Jay had apparently not followed through on his promise to record the song, and De Niro was pissed.
The Post source added that Jay’s wife, Beyonce, came over to smooth tension between the two men, “but that didn’t calm Bob down.” The source further claimed the incident “was the talk of the party.”
Robert DeNiro should either get Jay to sign a CONTRACT (something every recording artists understands) to record the song or get someone else to do it who is more professional and doesn’t have a problem returning phone calls.
It is definitely unprofessional not to return phone calls, particularly if you are supposed to be a businessman. 6 times!!! He was wrong and there isn’t an excuse for that.
They live in the same neighborhood in NY and it was something to benefit the neighborhood.
Supposedly Jay Z agreed to do this… if you change your mind **shrugs** JUST SAY SO!!!

I would be upset if my calls was not returned after the 3 try BUT then I would move on to someone else, NO WAY!! would I call and beg 6 times!!!! Jay should of returned at least one of the calls or had his assistant to do it. anyway, must be a Slow news day if this is a hot topic. much a do about nothing IMO!!!
Anyway much respect to DeNiro for not giving a fk about Jays status and called him on it. Probably still friends though, and I expect Jay to joke about this sometime in the future cuz dude has a great sense of humor.
