A Tearful Katt Williams Announces Retirement from Stand Up (Watch)

*Katt Williams  is “kinda done” and has decided it’s time to throw in the towel and hang up his comedy hat.

“I’m just gonna go ahead and announce my retirement from standup, I’m kinda done,” Williams said in a video taped for KOMO TV. “I’ve discussed it with my kids, I wasn’t gonna do it in the middle of a Seattle street, I was going to go to Los Angeles and do it in the offices of ICM or LiveNation.”

He also went on to vent about how law enforcement has treated him, labeling him a misfit and troublemaker.

“This was a place (Seattle) I like to bring my kids and let them do stuff without people caring who they were,” he said. “I got arrested in front of my kids three times in my three days stay in Seattle… And all we were doing was coming into town to sell jokes and police department painted me as some sort of public menace that came to town.”

CNN is reporting that Williams told KOMO that he would remain in Seattle until a Thursday court date on the criminal charges and while he files a lawsuit against the city “for this $50 million that I want for crippling my reputation as a father and a black man and as a taxpaying citizen and as a person who is not a convicted felon.”

Williams “exchanged words with patrons in the bar, brandished a pool cue at a bar manager and refused to leave the business,” and later refused to show identification to a police officer who had been called to the scene, a Seattle police news release said.

Officer Michael Virgilio wrote in the arrest report that the World Sports Bar manager told him Williams had returned to the bar Sunday after being involved in a dispute with a customer the night before.

“I suppose you’re going to ask me to take my hands out of my pockets, huh?” Williams said to Virgilio, according to the report.

Williams refused to give his name or show an ID, but “yelled out a (California) driver’s license number,” the officer wrote.

When Virgilio warned he would arrest him for obstruction unless he produced an ID, Williams said “no.” The comedian then turned around and placed his hands behind his back “on his own accord,” the arrest report said.

“Two of Williams’ associates were standing nearby and were pleading for Williams to calm down,” the officer wrote.

  1. Katt Williams will be ok, as soon as he gets rid of his so-called
management “Suge Knight” bad news all the way around.

  2. redbone1954 says:

Is that who his management is? WOW didn’t know that. what is wrong with him? He seems to have some anger issues he needs to go see if he has some sort of physical reason why he is so out of control. I can’t believe all the mess that happened in Seattle .Ther is definetly something wrong with him.And he looks horrible. He won’t have a dime left after asll these people sue him.Put a fork in him he’s done

  3. Taurusingr says:

WTH did Suge giiiiiiiiiive to/have him TAKE!!??? GD!! This reminds me of how Devante & Danny Boy were nevva seen/heard from again, after hookin up wit Suge! Like…:what’s reeeeeeeally goin ‘on!!??? And Katt has been fkn up?, but not enough that peeps are not “feelin” dude anymore!!!, so “retire”!!!?? again….WTF!!?? I hope this is just a ploy to “shake” Suge’s crooked freeloading azz!! Eeeeeithah waaaaaaay (said like Katt!) sumptin SUMPTin just ain’t right, in this decision hope dude gets what EVVA he needs, to be what he was , again! Chuuuuch!

  4. nightshift says:

He’s had “lil’ man’s” disease for a looooooong time! By him acting a fool, he had all kinds of folks, especially the ones who don’t like him laying in wait for him to nut-up, and he delivered, slapping folks, hitting with pool cues . . he must be broke because if he had “handlers” they should’ve been trying to keep him from causing a ruckus. . . needs to be in a profession were his aggression is tolerated/appreciated. . . Or just sit the f*ck sown.

  5. That really sucks because I really liked his stand up and he was funny as hell. Hopefully and prayerfully, he’ll get some help and get his life back together. Wishing him the best. Him and Chris Rock are my favorite comedians…

  6. Some of you are way off blaming his shenanigans on his “manangement”. That’s laughable. Management has nothing to do with the way he has been acting these past few years. I don’t believe he’s down with Suge anyway. The past few years Katt has CLEARLY BEEN ON THAT POWDER. He’s shot his self so in the mouth so many times as of late he’s calling it quits
HIMSELF! He needs to re-invent himself. His pimp/player act is dead and not believeable at all.
Yes he has his funny moments but lately he’s been awful. That new year’s HBO special? HOT TRASH!

I don’t wish ill will on the man. I hope he gets himself together and gets back to doing what he loves to do, and I’m not talking about drugs either. Look at this dude. On camera cryin’, lookin’ like a peddler who sells bootleg t-shirts after a concert is over and shit. SMH
