Marvin Gaye III
*Marvin Gaye‘s son and Lenny Kravitz may be childhood friends, but it doesn’t mean the heir wants the rocker playing his father on the big screen.
In fact, Marvin Gaye III and his family members are against the project altogether, according to TMZ.com.
Kravitz will play Gaye in the biopic “Sexual Healing” (working title), which is said to follow the legend’s life in the 80s when he battled drug abuse and depression – up until his father shot and killed him in 1984.
Gaye III tells TMZ “The producers and directors of this film are very wrong and shameful … [They're] trying to do a film about a low period in his life. They don’t even know the whole story.”
Marvin’s son says he and Kravitz were schoolmates and remain friends to this day, so he wants to “talk to him about why he would do this.”
Gaye III says he and other family members are meeting with lawyers to try to stop production, and added, “I would hope [Lenny] doesn’t have any idea that we are against this film being done.”
Well, Gaye III, the reason Lenny would do it is FOR THE MONEY. Good luck with stopping production. I would like to see a biopic beginning from when Marvin was a little boy until his death.
I think the guy that played on Law and Order would have been perfect…

Marvin Gaye had a lot of demons… he also had some GREAT musical moments in his life!
The reason the film would not be very successful… There are at least two generations that don’t know Marvin Gaye… they would not bother seeing the film focusing on the 80′s! The rating would likely be an “R”.
yeah…he’s a hot mess! But my question is…why don’t they want it made? I read some time ago that Motown wouldn’t get them the rights to use his music so that’s why they were focusing on the 80′s when he had a new record lable. IDK…maybe the family is being left out. They really need to include them so MGIII can get a barber and some new clothes!

Marvin Gaye III is the ADOPTED son of Marvin Gaye and Anna Gordy Gaye. Frankie Gaye II is the BIOLOGICAL son of Marvin Gaye and Janis Gaye. Frankie was born a year after Nona Gaye, Marvin’s daughter, and he is named after Marvin’s younger brother.
Grace, that’s not exactly true about Marvin the 3rd being adopted. For years that was the initial story but in a book called ‘Trouble Man’, Denise Gordy, the niece of Anna, stated that she became a surrogate by sleeping with Marvin. She was only 15 at the time but she stated that it was important that the child had ‘Gordy blood’(???). He looks a little more like the Gordys, if anything.

Grace, have you ever seen any of BG’s sons? He does resemble them somewhat. Marvin reminds me of one of BG’s older brothers (more than likely deceased). Plus he has that pudgy nose like the Gordys. The Gordys took sticking together to a whole new level. No wonder Marvin was even more messed up once he dumped Anna.
I looked at Redfoo’s and Rockwell’s photos, and they look nothing like him to me. I have an appointment with the optometrist tomorrow afternoon. Maybe once I change my prescription for eyeglasses, I will see it, but right now, I don’t.
As much respect and admiration I have for the Gordy family, if Marvin Gaye III was conceived in such a way, then that was just plain NASTY.
All this discussion about Marvin Gaye made me nostalgic last night, and I began listening to his old music from the 1960′s and viewing old photographs. While I was doing this, I came to realize that Marvin had a nose job. Not a severe one, like Michael and Janet Jackson, but some work WAS done.
I would LOVE a movie about Marvin Gaye, I would go see it opening night and several times more…
I think it should be similar to Ray…don’t focus just on the 80′s. Let us know about his entire life, not just the negative moments.

Being a long time fan of Marvin Gaye. Yes, I’ve also heard rumor years ago that the Gordy family had actually set things up for Marvin II to at first have a baby with one of the younger Gordy relatives such as Denise Gordy, who was 15 or 16 at the time, and a niece of Marvin’s 1st wife Anna Gordy, because Anna could not conceive children. It was said that this was not what Marvin II wanted, but was forced to do so anyway by his in-laws, lol. Marvin II was 21 and Anna was 38 years of age at time of marriage. After Marvin III was born. Anna reportedly adopted him from her niece who acted as a surrogate mother sleeping with Marvin II. Biological this would mean that Denise Gordy & Marvin Gaye ll are the actual parents of Marvin Gaye lll.
Marvin III appears fruity looking just like his sissy old grandfather that murdered his son Marvin II. Marvin II and Marvin III both had a known history of drug abuse. Back in 3/1/12, Marvin III had pleaded to the public for a donation of a kidney, because he is in need of a kidney transplant that was brought on by diabetes as they attempt to claim rather than suspect years of drug abuse. By the way Anna Gordy is 91 years old still living being cared by her niece Denise who’s now approximately age 69.

muzyk, very true. This is why I said what I said to Grace above. The Gordys are quite ‘twisted’ in their idea about keeping everything in the ‘family’. Marvin stated how BG controlled his acts by having his siblings or relatives marry in order to control music and their money. I understand that Anna has alzehimer’s (sp?) and that’s the reason why Denise lives with her. It could also be that Denise does not have any income and relies on her uncle BG to take care of Anna and her. It’s the least that BG could do for his last living older sister.

NYCsoul, you know I thought a few members of the Jackson Family had some real twisted issues. “Sharing women in the family”. For example Alejandra Genevieve Oaziaza is the former wife of Jermaine Jackson, and also former girlfriend of Randy Jackson who’s the brother of Jermaine. This tramp had two children with Jermaine (Jaffar & Jermajesty Jackson) and two children with Randy (Genevieve & Randy Jackson Jr.). My goodness gracious alive how trifling is this?
Now speaking of the Gordy’s keeping everything in the family, you can best believe with out a doubt. BG and his sisters used to run and control everything about Motown and it’s artists. I mean they were really in full control etc. You are certainly right about the money and music. Yes, Anna is currently living with multiple ailments at 91. After all these years Denise probably never had work due to steady living off the family & name. She had a baby(Marvin III) for her aunt back in the day. These days she’s having to care for this same aunt.
Marvin Gaye’s sister had a wonderful play out based on his life a few years back. I hope they bring the play to the silverscreen because it truly details the real story behind his legacy and people will understand why he was troubled with many life issues. If I’m not mistaken, Marvin’s son pictured above was adopted when he was married to Anna Gordy who was much older than Marvin Gaye.

BG has 3 other sons. If you have a chance, look at his first two ex-wife’s children. Berry, Terry and Kerry (Raynoma Singleton who wrote a book about BG) all have that ‘nose’. Marvin 3rd’s head is shaped like Kerry’s. LOL. BTW, didn’t Rockwell spend a stint in a mental hospital years ago? I had read that he used to stalk the actress from ‘Family Matters’ who used to date Malcolm J. Warner.
