*The iconic former South African leader, Nelson Mandela, will likely spend the Christmas holiday in the hospital as he continues to regain his health.

Doctors told a South African media outlet that they are not quite satisfied with his status.

“At this stage there is no update on his condition and his doctors have given no indication” about when Mandela could be discharged, explained presidential spokesman Mac Maharaj.

Mandela was hospitalized on Dec. 8. He was diagnosed with a lung infection and underwent gallstone surgery.

He has improved since being admitted, however.

Maharaj also dispelled rumors that suggested the former leader’s health was deteriorating.

In the meantime, South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu said he is praying for a swift recovery.
