*Ok, “Django Unchained” the movie is one thing, but “Django Unchained” action figures/collectables is a whole ‘nother matter as far as Project Islamic Hope’s Najee Ali and a coalition of African America community leaders are concerned.
They’re calling for a boycott of the “Djano Unchained” collectables. A press conference is set for tomorrow, Tuesday, January 8.
If you haven’t heard, as the Daily Beast’s Karu Daniels reports, the “National Entertainment Collectibles Association, Inc. (NECA), in tandem with the Weinstein Company, announced a full line of consumer products based on characters from the movie. First up are pose-able eight-inch action figures with tailored clothing, weaponry, and accessories in the likeness of characters played by Foxx, Kerry Washington, Samuel L. Jackson, Leonardo DiCaprio, James Remar and Christoph Waltz. The dolls are currently on sale via Amazon.com.”
In a press release, NECA president Joel Weinshanker said the company was “very excited to bring the stellar cast of ‘Django’ to life and honored to be working with another Tarantino masterpiece.”
Well, to put it simply, Ali and community leaders are not excited the prospect of the “Django” cast being brought to life.
“Selling slaves as action figures is a slap in the face of our ancestors. Tarantino and Weinstein didn’t have action figures for their movie ” Inglorious Basterds” because they know the Jewish community would never allow it and the African-American community shouldn’t allow anyone to disrespect our ancestors,” stated Najee Ali, Director of Project Islamic Hope.
What (press conference): A coalition of civil rights and African-American community leaders are calling for a national boycott of the “Django Unchained” action figures.
When: Tuesday January 8th 2013
Time: 11:00am
Where: Leimert Park 3415 W.43rd Place Los Angeles, CA 90043 (Crenshaw and Vernon)

Sometimes, I just cannot believe my eyes or ears, slave dolls being shilled by a JEW whose own ancestors were slaves!!! The actors from this movie must be making a mint off this aberration and NOT say a mf’n thing , WTF is wrong with these people?
I guess they will have action figures next for Shawty Lo and all 10 of his baby mamas – if his show makes it on the air. The representation of blacks gets worse by the minute. If I lived in California, believe it, I would be at that press conference!
Naw, they take to the senate floor like these two:

Senator blasts proposed ‘hillbilly’ reality show
Feb. 26, 2003
Miller lashed out at CBS executives in a Senate speech Tuesday for their plans to air “The Real Beverly Hillbillies,” which would chronicle a rural, lower-middle-class family that moves into a luxurious Beverly Hills mansion. The program is modeled after the hit 1960s sitcom.
“I plead with you to call off your hillbilly hunt,” Miller said. “Make your big bucks some other way. Appeal to the best in America, not the worst. Give bigotry no sanction.”
As criticism built in January about the prospect of such a show, Moonves apologized and said the network meant no offense.

Senator asks MTV to kill new hillbilly reality show ‘Buckwild’
12/9/2012
At least one person is unhappy about the debut of “Buckwild,” MTV’s questionable new foray into reality trash-TV. West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin has asked MTV to kill the upcoming hillbilly-centered show, which, starting on Jan. 3, is slated to replace “Jersey Shore” in both timeslot and repulsion factor. Manchin even sent a letter to MTV President Stephen Friedman about the “ugly, inaccurate stereotypes” the show will promote about West Virginia. Manchin also wrote, “Instead of showcasing the beauty of our people and our state, you preyed on young people, coaxed them into displaying shameful behavior, and now you are profiting from it.”
Yeah, right. What reactionary nonsense. Minorities with real power don’t call press conferences, they quietly move to push the manufacturer and the face of the offending article out of business and out of popular esteem, respectively.
Another bad decision.
Who would buy this kind of crap anyway?
I’m sure the petition to ban these dolls will be coming through for me to sign shortly.
I’ll gladly sign.
“Tarantino and Weinstein didn’t have action figures for their movie ” Inglorious Basterds” because they know the Jewish community would never allow it…”
Not very well informed. There ARE action figures for Inglorious Basterds. Google it.
I made a fortune off my Django action figures, enough to buy me a new AR-15. Thanks morons
