*LOS ANGELES, CA – Family, friends, community activists and a coalition of clergy will hold a candlelight vigil in remembrance of slain teen Andre Lowe,19, tonight, Friday, January 18 at 5:30 p.m. outside of the Empire Nightclub in Hollywood (1716 Cahuenga Boulevard).
In addition to the vigil, family and friends will make a plea for stricter gun control laws. Lowe was killed early Sunday morning when gunshots erupted outside of the nightclub.
A 2011 graduate of Etiwanda High School, he lived in South Los Angeles with his father and was not affiliated with a gang.
The 19-year-old had just recently passed the test to receive his security guard card and was looking forward to getting his first job.
The alleged shooter, Robert Earl Thomas III, was taken into police custody Thursday after being found hiding at a friend’s house in Las Vegas.
