Actor Don Cheadle accepts the Best Actor award for TV Series, Comedy or Musical, “House of Lies” on stage during the 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel International Ballroom on January 13, 2013 in Beverly Hills, California

*Don Cheadle had a great Sunday. The second season premiere of his Showtime series “House of Lies” was up 15% from the show’s premiere a year ago; and on the same night, he won a Golden Globe for his role in the series. “House Of Lies,” starring Cheadle as the head of a management consultant firm, pulled 1.19 million viewers for its return at 10 p.m. The premiere was part of Showtime’s free preview weekend. Being that the network only counts subscribers, the actual viewership could be much higher.

Also on Sunday, Cheadle earned the Best Comedy Actor Golden Globe for his role as Marty Kaan on the show. It was a nice double-dose for the network and its entertainment president David Nevins, who ordered the pilot when he joined Showtime in 2010. Cheadle is also asked what he thought about Tarantino’s film.
