*New York, NY – The 28th Annual Doing Art Together Benefit – emceed by Carrie Keagan of VH1’s Big Morning Buzz – will take place in New York City on February 11th, 2013 at the Mandarin Oriental. Sharing his passion for the arts, Swizz Beatz states, “Art is such an important outlet for all people to express their creativity and to find comfort, especially children. Arts education was a big part of my life and I want to ensure that other children afford that same opportunity. I’m honored to be recognized by DAT for my work and hope to continue to work with them to cultivate programs for kids across New York.” DAT Board Member and CFO of UC Berkeley, Erin S. Gore, explains why he was a fantastic choice for the gala, “This year’s honoree Swizz Beatz, is a renaissance man who embodies all types of creativity…” going on to say, “He, like the work of Doing Art Together, creates and inspires different views of the world, and empowers a global citizenry to change the world for the better.”

The mission of Doing Art Together (DAT) is to awaken and enrich the intellectual, social, and cultural development of under-resourced New York City children and youth, inspiring them to pursue their learning. They accomplish this by engaging youth in the visual arts, igniting the participation of their family network and building enduring partnerships with their educational community. DAT is a non-profit arts education organization that provides hands-on programs to under-served audiences, and their programs build skills that enhance the ability to learn and are easily transferred from the classroom to life.
