*Anaheim – A capacity crowd was in attendance for the First Annual Women’s International Music Network Breakfast and She Rocks Awards Ceremony.
The Women’s International Music Network and New Bay Media bought together and celebrated women in the music industry, Friday, January 25, 2013 at the Anaheim Marriott.
This wonderful event was organized and hosted by Laura B. Whitmore, founder of the WiMN,producer of the Women’s Music Summit,and writer of Guitar World’s Guitar Girl’d column.Ms Whitmore “thanked everyone for getting up early on this cool overcast day for this inaugural event and hoped that this will become an annual event.”
Ali Handal,international touring artist and author of Guitar for Girls: A Beginner’s Guide to Playing Acoustic or Electric Guitar,entertained the crowd arriving into the Grand Ballroom E for the program.The following tune stood out for it’s timely message “Long Way to the Top, If you want to Rock and Roll.”
There was plenty of buzz and attention surrounding one of the attendees. Several people lined up to speak with guitarist Orianthi,and to have their photos taken with her before the start of the program.
Susan Carr,superior technical teacher and veteran vocal coach for Grammy-nominated bands like Alice in Chains, Mastadon, Alien Ant Farm,Minus the Bear led the crowd in some vocal exercises to prepare us for the busy day that awaits everyone attending the NAMM Show 2013. Ms.Whitmore presented several awards for the first annual She Rocks Awards. The awards pay tribute to women who display leadership and stand out within the music industry.

The program concluded with a performance by Orianthi with a trio consisting of bassist Nik West and drummer Brittany Maccarello.Orianthi showcased some searing guitar riffs to the delight of all in attendance.
