Jimmie Walker Tells Black People to Stop Complaining

jimmie walker*Former “Good Time’s” star, Jimmie Walker, chatted with NPR’s Michele Martin recently to discuss his position on why major studios would rather avoid black films.

According to him, the community protests too frequently about the stereotypes projected on film. But he argues that some of the stereotypes that some argue appear bad, aren’t necessarily negative.

“What happens is, it also is reflective in black TV shows and movies, that you’re not gonna get anymore of those because of the constant complaining, moaning and groaning… The point is to make money,” he said. “And therefore, the networks themselves have actually stopped doing any ethnic shows, because they don’t want the aggravation… What has happened is that any minority character you see on a show now is always the police commissioner, the head of the hospital, the school superintendent. Those kinds of people don’t invoke followers. The people who are going to get attention are the wacky guys… who eventually become stars… You’ll never see a black Will Ferrell, You’ll never see a black Adam Sandler, because black people aren’t allowed to play those kind of roles.”

Someone please tell this very unattractive SOB to STFU

    • What I’m not clear on is that he voiced his opinion and never to disappoint, someone attracts the person’s appearance. This is very common on this forum. Would have been easier to simply explain why you disagree.

  2. Sound a little like Stephen in Django.

  3. genuinerep says:

Sounds like HE’S complaining in this article…

  4. someone please ignore this stereotype black actor who betray the people of color, poor excuse of a human being.

  5. these people are y whites blacks cant get along they talk about non issuses like they mean something but not whats importent.. like who is better suited for a job not just based on race what a joke take ur 1800s way of thinking and get into the 21s centey cuz you can see black TV is racsit to whites..

  6. GateKeeper says:

AKA JJ Walker is a republican tea party supporter… this negro is batting for that team.. he’s never EVER has said anything positive about african americans on any talk shows I’ve witnessed..

..white hollywood knows that more african americans actors/actress are starting their OWN media production companies..for the simple fact that white hollywood wants total control of black hollywood as they always have control.. giving black actors/actresses roles that are stereotypes… drug dealers, whores, drug addicts or an over weight angry negro females profanity.. or abusive blackmen who are just plain EVIL in every sense of the word… white hollywood doesn’t want to see black positve role models as actors/actresses.. are even a black complete family structure ..married.. with a mother and daddy/husband/wife..such as the CROSBY’s.. and if I was a up and coming african american actor/actress I wouldn’t want those negative acting roles either..

African americans are donig it for themselves..telling OUR story the way it should be told and not from a white hollywood’s perspective..

If I had a dog that looked like him, I’d shave his @ss and make him walk backwards. Fanteeking

  8. I don’t have too much to add, except to say how FUGLY he is!

  9. Jimmie Walker, this unfunny seventies reject does need to stfu! These types of sell out are always on their soap box complaining about what black people need to do or don’t do, how to think, how to vote, yada yada……just makes me sick how they flaunt their ignorance around those ignorant white folks.

Ugly JJ career ended when Good Times aired its last episode. This has been needs to quit being so angry with all the ‘constant complaining, moaning and groaning’ at the very same people who supported him for all those years. How ungrateful is that?

  10. kiiiiiiid Dinomite!

  11. Rather than dumping on him, could you at least analyze what he’s saying. Black folks (some) had problems with Good Times and the Jeffersons because it was stereotypical. Then they had problems wit the Cosby Show because it wasn’t Black enough – did not portray the reality of Black America, whatever that means. The same people complain that Hollywood isn’t employing enough Black folks. And when Black folks are employed by Hollywood, you have Black victimologists standing by to raise hell. So what doe Black America want?

    • So well stated. I guess when he played JJ he wasn’t a sell out because he portrayed the true image of being black?

      • No that jacksass DID NOT portrayed the true image of being black, Gayle K you are a narrow minded little fool….and JJ constant ranting goes beyond the idiot box!

  12. Fantus King David says:

Gayle K, you’re a perennial air-head!! My Colorado State University classmate John Amos quit Good Times, because he hated the demeaning, negative, stereotypical role of “Kid Ugly-Mite! For that I applaud Amos! On another note, Walker is dating the white, conservatively racist, lady skeletor Ann Coulter. I’m glad they’re to old to have kid!!! Granted technically Coulter is a brilliant writer BUT politically/philosophically she’s to the right of Adolf Hitler@@ Fanteeking

  13. melodycool says:

GayleK is a non-Black interloper constantly unloading drivel as if she matters here. Why does Jimmy focus on what Black folks stand up for all the while ignoring every other community sticking up for their ‘own’? I’m sure he heaps praise on them for that. What a disgusting sap!

  14. I don’t have a problem with anything he said. I wish all of those ignorant Tyler Perry shows on tv would disappear.

    • ladyellle says:

Mack I think that is once again what he is quoted as speaking to. People complain about what Tyler Perry is doing… they complain about so many of the shows.

There are a couple of new ones that come to mind. Mr. Box Office and First Family. They are very similar to the Tyler Perry shows. I can tolerate 10 mins and I am DONE. In fact they remind me of the 70′s shows (Good Times, Jeffersons, etc).

My husband and family love the new shows. Surprising to me, my hubby loves the Tyler Perry shows & some of the movies.

Some people tune in to watch the reality shows… Where some of them have gotten out of hand!

All this is to say is… people like what they like. Sometimes people tune in to laugh for entertainment. It could be violent, funny, slap stick, whatever. I guess there are viewing trends… as with ALL other ethnicities!

There is no show that represents ALL of us!

  15. nightshift says:

    I agree Flash

  16. isn he dating that Ann Coulter person??? …….again.. I woke up for this ???????

  17. This fool is so sad. The same people he’s talking about are the same people that watched him during his heyday in the 70′s and beyond. This fool needs to sit his azz down and o away somewhere peacefully!
