*Ndamukong Suh may be a villain on the gridiron, but he’s a hero to Louie Anderson, his co-star on the upcoming ABC reality diving show “Splash.”

According to TMZ, Anderson nearly sank to the bottom of the pool from sheer exhaustion and had to be rescued by the Detroit Lions star.

Sources close to the production tell TMZ that Louie was practicing his dives on Wednesday when he became a little too bushed to pull himself up the ladder, falling back into the water again and again.

Louie eventually had to be rescued by Suh and dive coach Greg Louganis, who physically lifted the comedian to the poolside. Louie then sat coughing up water for several seconds.

Despite the scare, Louie is reportedly doing fine. His rep says he’s already “feeling great, loving the challenge.”

“Splash” premieres on Tuesday, March 19 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
