Cissy Houston attends as Madame Tussauds unveils four wax figures of Whitney Houston– the first time four figures of the same individual have been simultaneously released– on Feb. 7, 2013 in New York City
*Whitney Houston died just hours before mentor Clive Davis’ annual Grammy party last year — and in the same hotel where she was scheduled to appear at the gala hours later.
As the one year anniversary of her death approaches, Davis has invited Whitney’s mother Cissy Houston and the rest of her family to this weekend’s pre-Grammy event in Los Angeles.
While Pat Houston and Whitney’s brother, Gary Houston, said they will attend Saturday’s event, the Houston matriarch not only declined the invitation, but also found it down right offensive.
“I got an invitation to the party — which is the most obscene thing,” Cissy told Access Hollywood at the unveiling of four new wax statues of her daughter at Madame Tussaud’s in New York City on Thursday. “I don’t know why they would want me to come to the party in which she died, you know? Unheard of.”
She added, “I guess maybe he just sent me a copy for remembrance sake.”

Cissy also said she will not attend Sunday’s Grammy ceremony, but will watch it on TV.
Regarding her relationship with Whitney’s daughter Bobbi Kristina, who recently Tweeted an angry reaction to the book Cissy recently penned about her mother,
(“I find it 2b disrespect2mymother & me being her daughter won’t tolerate it.”), Cissy said of her granddaughter: “She’s grieving. [She’s] really grieving. Bobbi Kris knows — she better know — that I love her. Anything I can do for her, I’ll be there. I wouldn’t say anything [bad] about my daughter. That’s MY daughter, whom I loved with all my heart.
“I love Krissy because she belongs to my daughter, all right?” she continued. “I think that she’s just grieving. That’s the only other thing I can say about it.”

I guess I’m missing how this invite would be offensive? One thing I will say about the deaths of Whitney and MJ. If it wasn’t apparent when they were living, it has become clear in their deaths at how dysfunctional their family lives really were. They both seemed to be surrounding by leeches, left and right, up and down.
“I don’t know why they would want me to come to the party in which she died”. Sad.
I can understand that Cissy doesn’t want to attend the Grammy party because she is still grieving but I must say this family is full of very strange fruit including Cissy. Something is just not right and maybe BK isn’t as crazy as people credit her to be. I hope they refrain from the media especially with the interviews for a while and go seek therapy. I can understand why Whitney may have went the route she did. Well at least we know Auntie Pat never has a problem to show her face any and every time.
Clive Davis should be ashamed of himself. He was a self-proclaimed “father figure” and mentor to Whitney Houston, who for years was the biggest star on his record label. If he truly cared for Whitney Houston as much as he claims, he would have cancelled his party last year on the day that she passed away. Instead, he allowed the party to go on as planned downstairs in the same building where a few floors above the festivities, Whitney’s body was still on the floor in her hotel room, with the removal of the body being delayed as not to upset the party attendees’ arrivals. DISGUSTING. To add insult to injury to Whitney’s memory and to her family, his invite to this year’s “party” to Cissy Houston is inappropriate, crass, and as she said, obscene. It seems to me that Clive Davis is just as much one of the users who only saw Whitney Houston as a cash cow, and nothing else.
