*And they’re off. The custody battle over late Jovan Belcher’s daughter is on.
Cheryl Shepard, mother of the Kansas City Chief’s linebacker, is seeking custody of four-month-old Zoey, as well as full control of her dead son’s rich estate. Last week, the court gave her the green light as the estate’s administrator, pending her obtaining a $1 million surety bond.
But it doesn’t appear it’s going to be an easy fight, since Zoey’s maternal family wants full custody as well.
Belcher killed his girlfriend and child’s mother, Kasandra Perkins after a domestic dispute. He later killed himself in front of coaches and teammates the same day.
