I believe it’s a good idea to start talks between blacks and Latinos I also believe we should call for a national boycott on all federal banks and to stop all direct deposit because of the fraud committed
The great dilemma of black leadership.
I’m not going knock Sharpton hustle. I will even go as far as applauding him. He got to do what he got to do to stay relevant while still keeping his MSNBC gig, among other things. But that’s the dilemma of black “leadership.” They can’t really call a spade a spade. The problem is not so much that these black politicians and activists have to bite their tongue, but more that not all black people being able to recognizing what message they are actually sending. Sharpton ain’t stupid. He knows them Mexicans straight up hate blacks and will NEVER unite with us. But he feels his hands are tied, so he got to go along to get along.
Black people got to be smart enough to know what’s really going on and make the necessary preparation to confront the problem. The solution is really an alternate form of leadership, one designed to express what’s really on Sharpton’s mind, not necessarily one designed to make him and those of his ilk irrelevant.
Yeah, it’s an effed up way of handling things. But shyt has been complicated for black people ever since the middle passage. And it doesn’t seem to be getting any better.
I don’t applaud him for doing essentially the same thing we’ve long criticized black republicans for doing…going along just to get along. Al can call a spade a spade just as he has in the past. The difference now is that he has a job and must save face (again black republicans) in order to maintain access to power. What we had in someone (Tavis) calling a spade a spade has been silenced by Al Sharpton and others.
Black folk will not accept any alternate leadership until AFTER Obama leaves the WH. Then we’ll go back to asking and believing there’s a such thing as a “black agenda”

I’m sick and tired of coalitions that doesn’t really work for “us”. We need to be sitting at the table with each other to sort things out before we try to break bread with someone else, especially those who ride our coattails for the things we fight for and do nothing in return but continue to insult and demean us.
Even after Obama leave, folks like Sharpton won’t get back their mojo. With black people, we actually have to be a leaderless group of people to progress. All the leaders eventually get compromised. Look at Najee. When he first came out, you would think it was the next Farrakhan. But now he is also compromised.
That’s the message I’m trying to convey. Black people will never hear the raw truth from any of the people who have a voice, that’s why we need to know how to decipher their message. This is akin to Jesse caught saying that Obama was talking down to niggas. He got to put up a front, even though he knows that Obama is full of it. It’s the same with Sharpton and Najee. They know them Mexicans will never respect us, but they feel compelled to do the politically correct thing, hoping that black people will know better.
lol..I agree about Jessie. The difference between he and Al is that Jessie never made it back to safe land. Notice how you never see him on MSNBC. And nah, Sharpton has sealed his position. Pay attention though, Sharpton will attempt to regain his “down for the people” status Post-Obama but it won’t work since by then we would’ve pretty much given up all political rights due to our belief that the POTUS shouldn’t have to specifically address our needs.
BTW, I think you’re a bit over the top w/the assumptions about Latinos.
“BTW, I think you’re a bit over the top w/the assumptions about Latinos.”
If you noticed, I emphasized “Mexicans”, and not just Latinos. As many have already observed here, other Latinos like Puerto Ricans are different. The Mexicans are a different breed. They straight up hate blacks. There is no rehabilitation for them. Sharpton and Najee just wasting their time
ITA with you Diva. Everyone I watch a show where latinos vent their frustrations it’s always with an eye for overrunning Blacks…but never reaching out and speaking about alliances. They are pissed that Blacks keep getting up just when they ‘think’ they have us on the ground. There are more than just Blacks in this country but their daggers are constantly aimed at out backs. All arrangements are one way and I can do without them quite frankly. I’m sick of Black leaders even invoking their names when they know beyond a shadow of a doubt they ‘never’ reciprocate. F it!
@Melodycool: What is the show? The Latinos are united in this belief? Meaning Latinos from multiple countries / common-wealth’s?
ladyelle, it was a special on PBS and I recall latinos from various countries but mainly from Mexico and Central America. Latinos have a festering problem whenever they are confronted with the fact that Blacks are part of the fabric of this country and feel overshadowed IMO. I’m shocked when people feign ignorance of the hatred and disrespect these folks want to heap on the Black race. All one has to do is research how Blacks are abused and marginalized in latin countries to get an idea.
“All one has to do is research how Blacks are abused and marginalized in latin countries to get an idea.”
That’s a good point, Melody. Where they are from, blacks are treated as their inferior. So when Sharpton tries to reach out and form alliances with them, it’s a complete waste of time. They feel that they are too good for us.
I’ve been apprehensive, moreover not one to start controversy by getting on face book. But I just had to write Al sharpton about something that I just couldn’t shake off. I’ve notice how things have changed for Africa America. But I hate to say that I’ve yet to see true equality come to our Africa America people or if I’ll ever live to see that. To live and die under the condition the black people has been under or has experienced for as long as I’ve been on this earth, it makes me wonder weather or not is life really worth it. When I was I kid about four or five I asked my older sister when are black people going to be on TV? As a kid I felt that something was wrong but I was just a kid and didn’t know any better. I went on to say, what? They’re going to be on TV next year, thinking that they must be taking turns. This was about 1963 or 64. My sister thought that it was so funny what I had said. Shortly there after I quickly learned that there wasn’t going to be a next year turn for the black people. But as time went on, and I mean as time went on, slowly but surely black faces began to evolve on the TV screen. You know I like MSMBC but I’ll like to ask MSMBC and Al Sharpton a question. Why is it that Al Sharpton comes on only once, when Lawrence O’Donnell, Rachel Maddow, The Ed show and hard ball comes on over and over again until the break of dawn? What is it? He’s not as equal as the other or not as important or not as good or not part of the MSMBC team as the others? I thought he was. They’re all post together as the MSMBC team, or is it because he’s black. Don’t get me wrong I like the rest of them and their news but I like Al Sharpton just as much or more and would like to see him reran like the others. I don’t think that’s fair, not to the Africa America viewer but to Africa Americans as a hole. I notice that about his commercial to how limited they are. But I guess you can say he better be glad or lucky to be on TV at all. Well. I’m going to move on Mr. Sharpton because I refuse to let this subject depress me. I have enough issue in life as it is I must struggle with. I just wanted you to know that there are still us out there who notice where true equality has a long way to go,
