*Here’s the latest update from South Florida regarding the impending arrest of Steve Harvey‘s bodyguard for vandalism.
Jose Lambiet’s Gossip Extra is reporting that the still as yet unnamed bodyguard brought up racism when he and Harvey were approached by a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputy investigating a vandalism incident at Wellington’s Winter Equestrian Festival.
The deputy confronted Harvey, who also hosts TV and radio’s The Steve Harvey Show, over allegations that someone who looks like his muscle keyed the car of a show jumping competitor in a dispute over a parking space.
As Gossip Extra reported yesterday, PBSO plans on filing a felony criminal mischief charge against Harvey’s security man because the car probably needs an entirely new paint job.
Now, the issue of race at the nearly all white showgrounds is being raised, according to a source who watched and heard the deputy question the men.
“The bodyguard denied he was anywhere near the car that was keyed,” the witness tells me. “He said the only reason the deputy wanted to talk to them is because they’re black.
“The guy told the deputy: ‘You’re asking us about this is because we’re the only black people here.’”
Speaking of black, the GE report also points out that there is a rising crop of young minority riders, using the Wellington facilities, through a slew of outreach programs.
Current black riders include Paige Johnson, daughter of the BET television network founders Bob Johnson & ex-wife, and Sheila; Mavis Spencer, daughter of True Blood actress Alfre Woodard and of course, Harvey’s daughter, Lori.

I ‘m sure that’s quite humbling for a famous multi-milllioniare to be questioned about a vandalism incident of all things. I guess it’s true- despite fame and fortune, at the end of the day we’re still viewed and treated as n*gger$. I just hope the bodyguard isn’t responsible for keying somebody’s car.

Yo….perhaps it wasn’t meant as a “neg” stab?, but I personally think the word “humbling” is inappropriate. I could see it if Steve was a pompous celebrity walking around always talkn shyt etc….! But…..he AIN’T!!, & seems like he/his peeps are being “falsely” accused! So….how about we direct the name calling or insinuations at the racist, profiling, jumping to negative conclusions about “Us”, punk ass COPS in Florida, umm…”ok”!?? SMH.

I’m sorry but I think you totally missed the point of my statement. My point is for anyone over the age of 18 (especially a 50 something year old, rich and famous person) to be questioned about a vandalism incident is embarrassing as hell. Innocent or not just to have your name attached to the incident is not a good look. Also, I wasn’t calling Black people the n-word; it was an indictment on how others (white people) view Black people- including Black people with money.

If you read the other stories there seems to be several eye witnesses, doubtful this was an incident of being falsely accused. Middle of the day, on a Saturday, one of the busiest days at the show grounds…Not the “N” word but the “S” word…Stupid!
