*Quoting anonymous sources, Us Weekly reports that Elisabeth Hasselbeck is being fired from “The View” after internal research found that her political views are turning away audiences.
Co-host Joy Behar announced last night that she will leave the show when her contract is up at season’s end. According to multiple sources, it appears as if Hasselbeck will follow – except she’s being pushed.
Deadline was the first to report that Hasselbeck’s future on the ABC show was “unclear.”
Following Us Weekly’s report, TV Newser posted a similar story. The site’s Alex Weprin cited two sources who said Hasselbeck was leaving. But, a spokesman for the show told Weprin that Hasselbeck has a “long-term contract.”
Hasselbeck, who has offered the conservative counterpoint on the show for 10 years, would leave “The View” with co-hosts Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg and Sherri Shepherd, the latter two brought in to replace Rosie O’Donnell and Star Jones.
