’90210′ actor Evan Ross eats lunch with friends at Fred Segal in Santa Monica, California on February 21, 2013
*Evan Ross and Donny Boaz have been cast opposite Keke Palmer, Lil Mama and Drew Sidora in “Crazy, Sexy, Cool: The TLC Story,” VH1‘s biopic of the R&B group TLC.
Ross will play Dallas Austin, the producer of many TLC hits who was romantically involved with Chilli, played by Palmer. Boaz will play the trio’s manager Bill Diggins.
As previously reported, Lil Mama plays Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes and Sidora plays Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins.
Ross and Austin are actually close friends in real life, according to Deadline.com. Austin was a producer on Ross’ very first film, Warner Bros’ “ATL.” Boaz will next be seen portraying Larry Birkhead in Lifetime’s Anna Nicole Smith biopic.

Am I the only one completely NOT checkin for this biopic? I mean, Keke Palmer is cute, but I don’t get the draw…two of the members are still alive and relatively well. Where’s the drama? Left-Eye did her own swan song in South America. Too soon. Wait for an Unsung about ten years down the road.
hh you’re my boy and all, but you might be in a small group totally not checking for this. I would like to see how this is going to turn out. The casting so far seems fitting for me. You think it’s too soon? Nah, TLC is done and has been done for quite some time. You might as well put something out now while some people are interested.
I can dig that they’ve been done for awhile…maybe an ‘Unsung’ as dreams haven’t been realized beyond a few years, but that’s about it.
Sorry TesticAl. I agree with HH, I feel there isn’t anything else to see or know that has not been said by the surviving members and Left Eye. Behind the Music had its take, Last days of Left Eye pretty much summed up Lisa’s life. Their issues were centered around bankruptcy(The Group), betrayal(Chilli/Dallas), illness(T-Boz), and tradegy (Lisa). Now what else will this movie reveal? Better question, do I want to know?
Capricorn_queen, why are you sorry? I agree with you about there isn’t anything else to see. They can still make an interesting/entertaining movie about them. They are making this for a monetary standpoint, which I don’t mind. I’ll watch it. If it’s trash, I’ll turn it, straight like that. LOL!
Capricorn, I agree with HH as well. Last Days of Left Eye definitely summed up Lisa’s life and I thoroughly enjoyed learning about her. There isn’t much left to mine in that story IMO, but think the casting is quite good and wish the actors well. Maybe it’ll be a cautionary tale.
The Last Days of Left Eye summed things up from her perspective.
IMO that leaves the perspectives of the other two.
I enjoyed watching the documentary… but it left me feeling like Lisa was just full of herself.
Interesting but full of herself.
The other two should have used the replacement they chose from that show and tried to continue!
ladyellle, I got the feeling Lisa was the heart and soul of TLC. I kept thinking of what ‘could have been’ had she survived. I thought T-Boz was good in Belly and wish she had gotten more roles afterwards but it seems she and Chilli haven’t pretty much faded to black. Guess this is what happens when most of the emphasis is on gimmicks and props instead of real ‘sanging’.
Melody, I disagree that Left eye was the heart and soul of TLC. She was the most popular, because of her BEHAVIOR ONLY! What’s the first thing people talk about when she’s mentioned? I don’t even have to say it. For conversation’s sake, I will. People always mention how crazy she behaved and you can bet a million dollars they will mention the Andre incident. That’s a fact! LOL! By far T-Boz was the heart and soul of TLC. They all played their part, but that group ran through T-Boz.
