EURweb associate Cherise “CNikky” Nicole (CNikky), spoke to KeKe about the role and the controversy that came along with it, during the 2013 Essence Black Women In Hollywood Luncheon. KeKe was very open to expressing her feelings and give us the scoop on filming the biopic.

She talked about vibing with her co-stars Lil Mama (Left Eye) and Drew Sidora (TBoz):

“We get a few weeks to get the choreography down and just vibe with each other and vibe with the actual choreographer that was their choreographer, which is very very cool and it’s gonna be a lot of fun. By the time we start filming we’re gonna be already in the zone.”

In response to the critics slamming her as the choice to play Chili:

“Every now and then I think, people think that celebrities are some crazy human beings…but that’s just the nature of what I do, o.k. I’ve become popular. But I’m not some different type of being and you know, I have feelings and It would be the same as, if I told you, you can’t work at Chase cause you don’t look like a banker. So I always have to let people know, put it in perspective that I got this because of my acting abilitites. It’s about being an actress. It’s not about looking like this person or like that person. I mean I could understand if I was doing Bette Midler, I mean I don’t look anything like her, but atleast I’m the same race as Chili!”
