New Music from Beyonce ‘Bow Down/I Been On’ (Listen)

*Beyonce has just released the first new song from the sessions leading up to her upcoming fifth solo album.

Though there’s no guarantee it’ll arrive on the CD, “Bow Down/I Been On” is the first new music fans have heard from Bey since the release of her 2011 LP, “Four.”

Produced by Hit Boy, the track is a gritty, Houston rap-tinged track that features Bey growling, “Bow down, b*tches” on multiple occasions. In another line, she’s possibly referencing the shadow of Jay-Z: “I took some time to live my life, don’t think I’m just his little wife.”

It mainly uses Beyonce’s through only the first minute, before devolving into what sounds more like a Hit Boy mixtape track. The California-born producer is best known for producing hits like Jay-Z and Kanye West’s “Ni**as in Paris,” West’s “Clique” and Lil’ Wayne’s “Drop the World.”

Beyonce kicks off her “Mrs. Carter World Tour” on June 28 in Los Angeles.

    Not

  2. Is this all she could come up with?? SMH …

  3. timmdogg says:

This song is horrible. With her larger than life fan base I truly don’t believe she will be releasing this song to the masses!

  4. This song is not good!! Beyonce leave this song off the CD and stop working with The Dream if thsi s is the best he could do, this sonds like Rihanna’s crap, you have more talent than this.

  5. If Beyonce is aiming for the urban/r&b or a gritty sound she does not have to resort to be dirty/trashy about it, I know it si meant ot get attention but there is a way ot do it that is more ( using one of Beyonce’s word) ” inspiring”

    • I think Beyonce is being her true self……….dirty/trashy. You can see it in the way she perform’s on stage. She dances like she’s performing in a strip club.

  6. I’m just guessing, of course, but I’ll bet Jay-Z wrote the lyrics.

“Scratches head”…I’m all for artist for experimenting but I don’t know about this song. Beyonce never grew up in the hood so I don’t understand her trying to act street on this song with the explictives references. I hope this is really not a true single and doesn’t make the album. This is worst than that first song from the last album, “Girls (Run the World)”.

  8. So Jay-Z isn’t supposed to say the B-word anymore because he has a daughter, but it’s OK for Beyonce to say it?

  9. Nope…. Don’t like it at all. She needs to practice her writing skills. I can almost tell the songs she wrote from the songs someone else wrote for her. Her lyrics are so immature.

  10. The photoshopped pic of her as a child, superimposed amongst trophies, speaks volumes. The title alone sounds narcissitic and childish. I don’t see her songs having any timeless quality to them. At the age of thirty, she is still making music for teenagers.

  11. beyonce told everyone on ellen after she did the movie Cadillac Records that she didn’t curse or do drugs when she played Etta james, now this, bow down, is terrible, and whoever is doing the Rap part sounds like a Demonic/ Possessed person, Well THat song will not be played in my home. and if she has to result to this , because maybe her record sells are down ,, then she has become desperate. Beyonce does not need to do a tour, its not she needs the money!, I mean Our young kids are already tripping off this music and getting into Trouble, now if she thinks she going to sell this one,, She is sadly mistaken. why does she even need to go this far. Please parents don’t buy this song. it is disrespectful and maybe she needs the publicity I don’t know. but this song is not even beyonce. lets not allow bey to fool us, she is not as innocent as you all think she is. Trust me/ I watched her documentary and she was constantly saying praise to GOd, and Praise be to jesus/ Then she comes out with this
song that she actually thinks that we are going to bow down to her/ she is a fool.

  12. Wow. This song is all over the place. I like Beyonce’ but she may need to use material written and produced by others (i.e. Neyo, R.Kelly, Warren Campbell, etc.). She’s getting a little too old to put out this type of stuff.

  13. I want to know who she is TALKING TO with the “bow down bitches?” People like Mariah Carey, Alicia Keys, Jennifer Hudson, etc.?

  14. And where are the people who are always defending her looking like a ho? Well, now she’s talking like one. You know who you are …

  15. LOL! Makes you wonder, coming from a ‘woman’ who claims to be about empowerment (isn’t that what her inspid number ‘girls rule the world’ was about) would stoop to degrading other women in a quest to show dominance. In this instance, she must be talking about her pop tart co-horts like Rhianna, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga. Beyonce is not really ‘R&B’, at least, her music does not sound that way to me.

I’m not surprised that she would come out with a song this… she hasn’t shown humility in a longtime. But the again, maybe this is who she is…and the humiity act was to come across as likeable. She has had a lot of smoke blown up her butt the past couple of years and is clearly believing it. To me, it’s not so much the message…it’s not even hot. If you are going to be like that…. she needed to come out wtih a club banger. This sucks. I was also wondering how someone who is upper middle class suddenly became hood also.
