Terrence Howard Accuses‘Iron Man’ of Ruining His Career (Watch)

terrence howard*Terence Howard says he was on his way to become an A-list celebrity when he accepted the role in 2008’s “Iron Man” as Lt. Col. James Rhodes. But he was swiftly replaced for the sequel with Oscar nominated actor, Don Cheadle.

In an interview with Hollywood.com, he blamed the film, well actually the powers behind the “Iron Man” franchise, Marvel, for ruining his climb to the top.

“I chose not to fight back, not to deal with the allegations, but to continue forward and do what I had to do. I had to start all over: went from making $6 million a movie, back to $60 thousand a movie. But as long as you don’t give up you are able … I’ll make $20 million soon. Because I have learned the lessons of yesterday.”

“Marvel and I are now talking about doing some other things. And Don Cheadle wanted to play that part before I wanted to play it, so everything is very well,” he added.

Watch Howard make the statement that “Iron Man” killed his career at approxi, mately the 1:47 mark:

  1. This yahoo was never gonna be an A lister. Not talented enuff. Mediocre at best. And he is arrogant. Why, I have no idea.

  2. The realdeal on IM is, he was paid MORE than Robert Downey Jr. After the 1st fim went thru the roof, Howard got very greedy and demanded a much larger salary for IM2. Marvel told him to take a hike (it was reported he was difficult to work with), and they were much happier having Cheadle step into the role of Lt. Col. James Rhodes. So the truth is, Howard screwed himself out of a great part in a killer franchise.

I’ve never thought he was that great of an actor. He never seems to become the character (except maybe in Hustle and Flow). Otherwise, I just see Terence Howard on the screen reciting lines. And he seems full of himself as well. That’s true with other actors as well, but those actors in many cases have accomplished much more, so you could at least understand their arrogance a little more.

I agree, Papasmurf83. Plus his fan base has eroded to the point he’s no longer much of a draw.
