Chicago sinkhole on the Southeast side swallowed three cars before residents’ eyes Thursday morning, April 18, 2013.

The rain and snow that has descended upon the Midwest is causing some serious damage.

On Chicago’s Southeast side, three cars were swallowed by a sinkhole this morning.

The street where the sinkhole occurred is in a normal residential neighborhood at 96th and Houston.

One man was already inside his car possibly preparing to go to work when he and his car descended into the massive hole.

So far, there has been 5 inches of rainwater in the city just this morning and many schools have been closed due to flooding, according to Headline News.

Other residents are dealing with flooded basements this morning.
