Stephanie Sinnot, Quanesha Wallace, Keela Bloodworth, and Mareshia Rucker have been friends since the fourth grade and they are planning their first integrated prom for Wilcox County High School, April 27, 2013.

*In the 21st century, it’s hard to realize the many racial barriers that have still not been broken down.

There are many places that are still living in the 19th century…the early 19th century.

According to the New York Daily News, Wilcox County High School in Rochelle, Georgia, has never had an integrated prom. Even after Brown vs. Board of Education ended segregation in schools, Rochelle has yet to adhere to the laws.

In fact, 1983 was the first time the school was integrated, according to AddictingInfo.org.

But now, thanks to four young ladies who have been friends since the fourth grade, Stephanie Sinnot and Keela Bloodworth, who are white, and Mareshia Rucker and Quanesha Wallace, who are black, the school may just get their first integrated prom.
