*Morrocan actor Mehdi Ouazzani has made his first comments regarding the fuss around his character Satan’s resemblance to President Barack Obama in History Channel miniseries, “The Bible.”

The drama rumbled for weeks after the actor made his debut as a silent Lucifer, with many viewers believing producers were trying to make a political point. But Ouazzani, who sports grey hair slicked back in a ponytail and a slim Errol Flynn-style pencil moustache, looks nothing like the 44th president — nor does he resemble a stereotypical Satan. It was only after an hour and a half of makeup and a heavy hooded robe in Morocco’s blazing desert that Ouazzani became the figure on a mountain top tempting Jesus, and according to some, a dead ringer for Barack Obama.

In any case, Ouazzani was shocked by the hubbub.

“One morning somebody called me and said, ‘You have to look at your email,’ and I was so surprised,” he told the Associated Press. “For someone like me, a simple unknown actor, to find himself in a controversy like this – even though it’s nonsense – it makes me known around the world, so it’s something positive.”

Ouazzani just hopes President Obama has no hard feelings over the misunderstanding: “Before, I knew who Obama was, and now he knows me, and if he has time I’d like to invite him and his family for couscous in Morocco.”
