*They’re at it again.
Members of the Westboro Baptist Church, which has picketed the funerals of U.S. servicemen and planned to picket the funerals of Sandy Hook shooting victims, announced this morning that they plan to picket today’s funeral of film critic Roger Ebert, who died last week at age 70 following a lengthy battle with cancer.
The “church” said Ebert “mocked” them in a 2011 tweet, in which he called the group “odious.” The group slammed the film critic as a “fool” who “sold his soul for some fame and fortune,” Newser reported. In a press release, the group also referred to Ebert as a “f-g enabler” who is headed for “eternal torment and sorrow in Hell,” the Hollywood Reporter said.
The Chicago Tribune reported that Mr. Ebert’s funeral is set to start at 10 a.m. CDT at Holy Name Cathedral, and a large crowd is expected. A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, the Tribune reported, but details have not yet been released.
