*Will Smith is reportedly in talks to lead “Focus,” a long-in-development crime drama about a con man who gets romantically involved with a novice entering the field, only to be thrown off his game when the former flame shows up just as he’s staging an elaborate con in Buenos Aires.
The script was originally written with Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone in mind as the love interests, but their schedules conflicted, so nothing came of it. Then the directors landed “Twilight” star Kristen Stewart and Ben Affleck, until they both eventually dropped out.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Smith is now being considered for the leading role in the Warner Bros. project. If a deal comes together, he would be back in business with Warners, which has been itching to work with the actor since 2007’s “I Am Legend.”
The studio has courted him on several projects, including on an adaptation of DC Comics’ anti-hero space bounty hunter comic, Lobo.
