*On Saturday, May 11, 2013, Stevie Wonder celebrated his 63rd birthday in grandiose style with a party in Beverly Hills at the new Hollywood hot spot: H.O.M.E (Home of Music & Entertainment). EURweb associate LaCora Stephens covered the red carpet.
The extravaganza, hosted by Adai Lamar of LA radio station KJLH-FM (owned by Wonder), featured a red carpet parade of stars, delicious cuisine and great live performances by Vivian Green, John Legend and more!
Other guests included Tyrese Gibson, Kelly Price, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Iris & Karla Gordy, Kym Whitley, Vanessa Williams, Tammi Mac, Don B. Welsh, Don Ameche and countless others. After a few performances the birthday boy himself took the stage to say a few words of thanks and a short speech.
Most of the guests shared their heart-felt sentiments on camera on how Stevie Wonder has inspired them, but the most touching was Tyrese Gibson’s response.
EUR: How has Stevie Wonder inspired you?
Tyrese: I can’t really put the words to it. There is no one in the world that could ever be compared to him. I wouldn’t have felt good about going to sleep tonight without being here to celebrate who he is and what he has done in my life. I’m also here on behalf of everyone else. I just gave him the biggest hug ever. I think a lot of us have a bad habit of celebrating people after they’re gone. And I’m here celebrating him while he’s still here to see 63 years and for him to contribute as much as he’s contributed to music around the world. So many significant moments: birthdays, holidays, wedding, birth of a child, when someone dies in your family that you love…death…his music helps you get through. It’s just a lot. I’m just honored to be here.
