*Charlotte Bobcats owner Michael Jordan is taking it way back and has decided to change the team’s name to the Charlotte Hornets. Jordan said at a Tuesday press conference he has informed the league of his decision and is optimistic the NBA board of governors will approve the name change when they convene in July. The team will still be known as the Bobcats for the next season, but if approved, the Hornets will be the team name for the 2014-15 season. Jordan says the team listened to the fans and “the fans wanted the name back.”
*Jay-Z’s got some business coming his way. New York Jets rookie quarterback Geno Smith has chosen his new sports agency to represent him. Smith fired his agents shortly after the NFL draft. The former West Virginia star met with a handful of agents before announcing Wednesday that he had chosen Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Sports, which is partnered with Creative Artists Agency. Kimberly Miale, recently hired by Jay-Z, will serve as Smith’s contract agent. Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano and former Notre Dame star Skylar Diggins, drafted No. 3 overall by the WNBA’s Tulsa Shock, have also recently signed with Roc Nation.
