*It was a bittersweet night for the Biebs at the Billboard Music Awards.
Justin Bieber got lots of love from the trade magazine itself, earning two trophies on Sunday, including the evening’s final Milestone Award – beating out Bruno Mars and Taylor Swift. However, he got considerably less love from Billboard’s live audience, where boos were heard alongside cheers during his acceptance speech.
Bieber appeared to turn fans off when he began lecturing about the public’s response to his recent run of bad boy behavior.
“I’m 19 years old. I think I’m doing a pretty good job,” a perplexed-looking Bieber said once the boos had died down. “It should really be about the music. It should be about the craft that I’m making. This is not a gimmick. I’m an artist and I should be taken seriously. All this other bull should not be spoken of.”
Another round of boos followed.
